Among the services provided by the Shelton Timberland Library are outreach to senior care facilities; com- munity arts, entertainment and other programs; book clubs, family read, aloud and summer reading programs; and as a collection site for food drives. The Simpson Lumber Co. has worked in forest products since 1890. The company donates lumber to Habitat for Humanity and the Shel- ton School District; gives money to community projects that include Se- nior Services to South Sound and the American Red Cross; and participates in community events that include Oys- terFest and the Forest Festival. The nominees for Citizen of the Year are Patti Case, Amy Cooper, Xinh Dwelley, Caroline Rich, Terri Shaw and Barb Weza. All are actively volunteering their time and support- ing local groups. The nominees for Volunteer of the Year are Lisa Brengan of Mason Fire District 4; Sue Patterson of Sage Book Store; Julie Sund Nichols of White- house & Nichols; and Lisa Woodard of Columbia Bank. Brengan welcomes new members as a chamber ambassador. She is a char- ter member of the Morning Star Lions Club, participates in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, and is vice chair of the Washington Fire Chiefs Administrative Support Divi- sion. Patterson has served on many chamber committees, including beau- tification and auction planning. Turn- ing Pointe Domestic Violence Services, Senior Services for South Sound and United Way of Mason County are among the organizations that receive volunteer time from Patterson. Sund Nichols, an attorney, is the chair of the chamber's government af- fairs committee. She also volunteers with a local legal clinic. Woodard, the branch manager at Columbia Bank, is on the board of di- rectors for Mason Matters and the Ma- son General Hospital Foundation.
