Jamie Musgrove became one of the latest third generation Simpson
Employees' Federal Credit Union about the same time the assets reached the
record $5,000,000 mark. When her grandfather, Lon, became a member in
March of 1954 assets were $500,000• When Jamie's father, Tony, joined in
February 1963, assets had reached $2,100,000. Lon and Tony work at
Shelton Veneer Plant• Irene Dethlefs, of the Credit Union staff helped Jamie
fill out her card for the pictures.
The credit union was chartered in December, 1941 and at the end of the first
year had 116 members and had gone $45•20 in the hole. There are now 4,100
active members with share holdings averaging $1,078. Loans totaling
$2,500,000.00 were made in 1970.
Advantages offered by Simpson Employees' Federal Credit Union to
members include low cost loans, savings programs, and financial counseling.
The organization is run by the members for their mutual benefit, with the
income shared by the members in the form of dividends on their share
holding and, when possible, loan interest rebates. Those eligible for
membership are employees of Simpson Timber Company, Simpson Building
Supply, Simlog Corp., and its subsidiaries, Howe Products, Inc., Laucks
Laboratories, Leasing for Industry, Sirco Mfg. Co., Stetson Ross Machine Co.,
who have headquarters in King County or Portland, Ore., LM Hyak and
Olympia Oyster Co., and their families.
