Cindy was born June 2, 1938, to Alfred and Ella H. Hall. Helen Benedict Brewer Helen Benedict Brewer, of Shelton, Wash., was born into eternal life on March 5, 2014, just two days before her 94th birthday. Born in Bremerton, Wash., in 1920, she was the eldest daughter of Fred and Georgia Benedict. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1938. She pledged Sigma Kappa Sorority at the University of Washington and graduated in 1942 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a teaching certificate. That same year, she married Richard C. (Dick) Brewer at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bremerton. Married women were not allowed to teach during World War H, so she went to work for the Army Signal Corps and later the Seattle- Tacoma Shipyard. The couple made their home in Seattle, Minneapolis, Tuscaloosa and Honolulu before returning to Seattle. They moved to Shelton in 1960 where they lived in an historic home. After returning to St. Martin's College and the University of Washington to renew her teaching certificate specializing in librarianship, she became the librarian at Shelton Junior High School in 1970, moving to the Angle Building when the junior high transitioned to a middle school. She retired in 1982. Helen was active for many years at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church, Mason General Hospital Auxiliary, the American Association of University Women and other organizations. Her hobbies included reading, playing the piano, sewing, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, playing golf and bridge, entertaining and corresponding with family and friends. She enjoyed opera and other classical music. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Sana Kramer. She is survived by her four children; Richard Jr., Frederick, Sana and Patricia, as well as three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held April 5, 11:00 am at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church, 324 West Cedar, Shelton. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mason General Hospital Foundation, Mason County Historical Society or St. David's Episcopal. - PAID OBITUARY N with her husband, Paul. They built their home in Shelton and loved their retirement together working on their property. She worked as a regis- tered nurse for years, including emergency room nursing, helping to launch one of the first vascular laborato- ries in Orange County. She retired from nursing approximately 13 years ago after working with Dr. Mark Trucksess in Shelton. Cindy loved garden- ing, canning, reading and being with her family, but her favor- ite thing was being outdoors, listening to the birds, watching the flowers grow, and split- ting and stacking wood in the springtime. She is survived by husband, Paul Biggs of Shelton; her brother Doug (JoAnn) Hall of Taft, Calif.; son Jimmy Allen Roberts of Shelton; daughter Laura (Frank) Pinter of Shelton; stepchil- dren Seanne Biggs of Los Angeles and Shannon Biggs of Mission Viejo, Calif.; grandchildren Jimmy Allen Roberts Jr., Madison Pinter, Ella Pinter, Dakota Biggs, Chandler Biggs and Montana Biggs; and great-granddaughter Taelyn Jo Roberts. Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Hall; father Alfred Hall; and brother Wen- dell "Jimmy" Hall. Arrangements are by McComb & Wagner Funeral Home and Cre- matory. Jean Ashley Jean M. (Hadsell) Ashley, 79, a 19-year resident of Shelton, died March 9, 2014, at Shelton Rehabilitation Center. She was born Nov. 25, 1934, to Henry Hadsell and Annabelle (Gosser) Hadsell in Shelton. She was previously married to Robert W. Ashley. The marriage ended in divorce. She graduated from the University of Wash- ington with a bachelor's degree in 1956 and worked as a personnel administrator for Simp- Robert E. Dawson Robert E Dawson of Shelton Washington, bom March 31, 1933, passed away peacefully from a massive heart attack February 23, 2014. Robert grew up in the North Bend region. In his very early teens he worked as a morning cook in a restaurant rising very early on school days to work before heading off to school each day. He pursued other odd jobs including tying fishing flies all to make a few extra dollars as he was growing up. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953. After an honorable discharge from the Army his working career was primarily in the logging and construction industry in both Washington State and Alaska. Prior to retiring he worked for five years for the State of Alaska on Highway Maintenance. Robert will be sadly missed by his wife Alice, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and all of his many friends who knew him. "To know Bob was to love him." She is survived by children Correne Schasel of Shelton and Michael Ashley (Julie) of Florida; sister Joan Labresh of Shelton; and granddaughter Krysten Ashley of Florida. A service is sched- uled for 1 p.m, March 15 at the Lake Limerick Inn. Arrangements are by McComb & Wagner Funeral Home and Cre- matory. In lieu of flowers, give memorial dona- tions to Adopt-A-Pet or Kitten Rescue. Evelyn Ashton Evelyn Carol (Jen- sen) Ashton, 91, a 19- year Shelton resident, died March 3, 2014, in Shelton. She was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Fairchild, Wis., to John and Doris (Fox) Jensen. She married Donald J. Ashton in Olympia in 1965. She worked in banks in Olympia and Aberdeen before retir- ing. She was preceded in death by husband Donald J. Ashton; son Stephen Faulkner; and brother Ralph Jensen. She is survived by son John Faulker of Redlands, Calif.; brother Robert Jensen of McCleary; daughter- in-law Char Faulkner of Shelton; and several grandchildren. Arrangements are by Sarah Feldman, CPG. Steven Helt Steven C. Helt, 66, a 15-year resident of Shelton, died March 5, 2014, in Shelton. He was born July 19, 1947, to Robert K. Helt and Helen E. Brailliar in Portland, Ore. Steven served in the Navy from 1967 to 1972. He married Con- stance Crawford on Oct. 17, 1975, in Vancouver, Wash. He worked as a for- ester for the state of Washington Depart- ment of Natural Re- sources. For 12 years, Steven served as the director of the Saint's Pantry Food Bank. Steven enjoyed fly- ing, hunting and work- ing at the food bank at St. Edward Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Connie of Shelton; sister Lora (Don Roy) of Sumner; brother Dan (Luann) of Puyal- lup; numerous nieces and nephews; and his "angel" Krista Schoen- ing. A memorial was March 11 at St. Ed- ward Catholic Church. Father Ron Belisle and Father Richard Parle officiated. He will be inurned at Willamette National Cemetery.
