She was born July 20, 1942, to Ethel Mar- ian (Marshall) and Charles Everett Barr in Grinell, Iowa. She married Harry LeRoy Hoard on Aug. 6, 1960, in Hayward, Cali- fornia. She worked as a per- sonal secretary, cashier and fabric cutter at Hancock Fabrics. She loved to play piano, quilt, sew.and voluteer at the church. Judith was born April 5, 1951, to James and Florence (Mallonee) Lamb in Squires, Mis- souri. She married Gerald Lee Zernicke on Dec. 19, 1975, in Elma. Judith is survived by her children, Jeremy Zernick of Rosebud, Or -- egon, Robert Zernicke of Minooka, Illinois, Ger- ald Zernicke Jr. of Rock: ford, Illinois, Annette Thompson of Roseville, Illinois, Andrea Ander- son Of'Matlock, Amy Zernicke and Amber Pille, both of Minooka, Illinois; several grand- children and great- grandchildren; nephews Buddy, Alan, Lee and Donny Lamb: and other relatives and friends. Pede (Lizen). He married Judy L. Todd on May 3. 1987, in Shelton, and worked at Simpson Timber Co. as a forklift driver. John enjoyed cars, motorcycles, collecting coins and citizens band radio. He is survived by his wife, Judy Pede of Shel- ton; daughters Rebecca Giddings and Susie Arnold of Shelton; sons Charles Pede and Jona- thon Pede of Shelton; sisters Ruth Maples of Shelton, Joann Arguello of Buckley and Sanna Watts of Chewelah; and grandchildren Candice Giddings, Taylor Arnold and Hazel Pede of Shel- ton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and John Pede. A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday at Shelton Memorial Park. It will be officiated by Rick Randleas. Arrangements are by Forest Funeral Home in Shelton. Ralph Smith Ralph Allen Smith, 87, a resident of Shel- ton, died April 21, 2014. at Fir Lane Health & Rehabilitation in Shel- ton. He was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Pontiac, Michi- gan, to Glenn D. Smith and Lillian V. (Dentry) Smith. He served in the Navy from November 1944 to November 1947 and from 1949 through 1952. He was a quar- termaster first class on discharge, but served primarily as a signal- man during his Navy career. Ralph married Shir- ley Taylor on March 8, 1955, in Virginia City, Nevada. He joined the Fresno City Police De- partment as a patrol- man m 1954, serving 22 years. He retired in 1976. He was a secretary of the VFW in Oakhurst, California, and enjoyed traveling, camping and motorcycles. After retiring, his wife and he enjoyed performing at the Golden Chain Melodrama Theater in Oakhurst. Richard Powell Richard Carl Pow- ell, Jr., 60, a six-year resident of Belfair, died May 1, 2014, in Belfair. He was born Dec. 3, 1953, to Richard C. Powell and Margerat Brooks in Lomita, Cali- fornia. He served in the Army from 1974 to 1976. Upon discharge, Richard's rank was SP 4. He married Bonnie M. Park on Aug. 18, 1985, in Las Vegas. He worked as a chain operator at I.L.W.U/ P.M.A. for 23 years in Long Beach, California. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchil- dren, and being in the B.C.A. He was a pool league member and en- joyed bird-watching. He also loved his dogs. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Belfair; daughter Tammy Tuck- er of Belfair; grandson Steven Tucker of Bel- fair; son Richard C. Powell III of Bremerton; granddaughter MaKen- zy Powell of Bremerton; grandson Jaxon Lee Powell of Bremerton; granddaughter Sadie Tucker; his best friend Holmes Powell of Bel- fair; and friend Tank Powell of Belfair. Arrangements are by McComby & Wagner Funeral Home and Cre- matory. Mary Rosie Mary Rosie (Perkins), 77, a resident of Shel- ton, died May 3, 2014, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. She was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Shelton to Floyd and Stella Perkins (Cox). She married David Rosie on Oct. 18, 1960, in Tumwater, and worked as a bookkeeper and sec- retary for Richert Sons Construction Inc. Mary was an oil painter and teacher, and enjoyed knitting, sewing, camping and three-wheeling. She also had faith in Christ. She is survived by her husband, Da- vid Rosie; sons Doug, Bob and Matthew; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Rhonda Rosie. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Rene Pulsifer Rene Mary Pulsifer, 70, an 18-year resident of Grays Harbor, died May 1, 2014, in Vancou- ver, Washington. She was born July 12, 1943, to Ralph and Lil- lian (Hayden) Heck in Tulalip. She grew up in Oakville and attended Oakville schools. Rene married Theo- dore Pulsifer, Jr. on Feb. 27, 1972, in Shelton. She worked as a homemaker and for so- cial services. She enjoyed basket weaving, beading, tribal canoe journeys and traveling to different 1910 Indian Shaker Churches and family gatherings. She is survived by brothers Daniel "Bones" Gleason Sr., William Heck and Thomas Heck; sisters Virginia "Dolly" Canales and Joan "Boots" Martin; children Paula Kla- tusl, Theodore Pulsifer III, Harriet Pulsifer and Ralph Pulsifer; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; parents; sister Lena Heck; and nieces Dionne Martin and Stella ReVay. Funeral services were May 6 and 7 at Oakville Shaker Church. Inurnment will be at the Chehalis Res- ervation Cemetery in Oakville.
