Ralph Allen Smith,
87, a resident of Shel-
ton, died April 21, 2014.
at Fir Lane Health &
Rehabilitation in Shel-
ton.
He was born Dec. 4,
1926, in Pontiac, Michi-
gan, to Glenn D. Smith
and Lillian V. (Dentry)
Smith.
He served in the
Navy from November
1944 to November 1947
and from 1949 through
1952. He was a quar-
termaster first class on
discharge, but served
primarily as a signal-
man during his Navy
career.
Ralph married Shir-
ley Taylor on March 8,
1955, in Virginia City,
Nevada. He joined the
Fresno City Police De-
partment as a patrol-
man m 1954, serving
22 years. He retired in
1976.
He was a secretary of
the VFW in Oakhurst,
California, and enjoyed
traveling, camping
and motorcycles. After
retiring, his wife and
he enjoyed performing
at the Golden Chain
Melodrama Theater in
Oakhurst. The couple
moved to Shelton in
1993.

league member and en-
joyed bird-watching. He
also loved his dogs.

on Oct. 18, 1960, in
Tumwater, and worked
as a bookkeeper and sec-
retary for Richert Sons
Construction Inc.
Mary was an oil
painter and teacher,
and enjoyed knitting, •
sewing, camping and
three-wheeling. She also
had faith in Christ.
She is survived
by her husband, Da-
vid Rosie; sons Doug,
Bob and Matthew; 12
grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by her parents and
daughter Rhonda Rosie.
A memorial service
will be announced at a
