Contact this office at (360) 427-9670, ext. 365 for further information. 7066 May 1, 8 2t PUBLIC NOTICE DETERMINATION OF SIGNIFICANCE AND REQUEST FOR COMMENTS ON SCOPE OF EIS Shelton Urban Growth Area Ex- pansion Proposal Environmental Impact State- ment Description of Proposa The City of Shelton, in coordination with Mason County and the Eco- nomic Development Council of Mason County, is considering an Urban Growth Area (UGA) ex- pansion west of Sanderson Field to create a job center. The programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will evaluate the potential natural and built environment impacts of re-designating unincorporated long-term commercial forest and rural land to urban uses. The proposal includes urban designation of 1,100 acres; the EIS will consider at least one additional alternative area. Conceptual zoning may include General Com- mercial and Commercial/Industrial designations. Proponent City of Shelton Location of Proposal The proposal encompasses 1,100 acres west of Sanderson Field, east of the Washington Correc- tions Center and The Ridge Motorsports Park and straddling SR 102 on the north and south. Lead Agency City of Shelton EIS Required The lead agency has determined this proposal is likely to have a significant adverse impact on the environment. An environmental impact state- ment (EIS) is required under RCW 43.21C.030 (2)(c) and will be prepared. A scoping document indicating likely environmental impacts can be reviewed at our offices and at the project web- site: www.ci.shelton.wa.us The lead agency has identified the following areas for discussion in the EIS: earth, water resources, plants and ani- mals, environmental health, energy/greenhouse gas, land use/relationship to plans, policies, and regulations, aesthetics, transportation and traffic, and public services and utilities.
