+ CRIME BRIEFS Thursday, May 22, 2014 - Mason County Journal - Page A-9 Man arrested after alleged assault, theft A man was arrested early Sunday morning in Bel- fair on suspicion of strong-arm robbery and assault of a clerk at the Belfair Chevron station, according to the Sheriffs Office. The clerk, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital for a possible concussion, frac- tured ribs and other injuries. Kevin Matthew Blair, 24, of the 9200 block of Northeast County Woods Lane, was booked into the Mason County Jail at 8:07 a.m. Sunday on suspicion of assault in the second degree, five counts of posses- sion of stolen property in the second degree and two counts of robbery in the first degree. Mason County Superior Court Judge Amber Finlay found probable cause Monday to charge Blair with burglary in the first degree, robbery in the first de- gree, identity theft in the second degree and assault in the second degree. Blair was granted $40,000 bail. Sheriffs deputies responded at 6:24 a.m. after re- ceiving reports of an altercation at the Belfair Chev- ron and mini-mart. The clerk told deputies that the suspect first en- tered the store and tried to buy some items with a stolen credit card, then attempted to shoplift. When confronted about the shoplifting and stolen credit card, Blair attacked the clerk, according to the Sher- iffs Office. Video surveillance showed that Blair left the store after assaulting the clerk, then tried to enter the store again. The clerk held the door shut, and Blair forced his way back in and assaulted the clerk again, accord- ing to the Sheriffs Office. Deputies found five credit cards in Blair's wallet that did not belong to him. Officers arrest robbery sus- pect after car, foot chase A Shelton man suspected in armed robberies in Thurston County was arrested Friday after a foot pursuit with a Mason County Sheriffs Office patrol dog. Frederick Ernest Dahman, 35, of the 400 block of Arcadia Road in Shelton, was booked at 11:39 p.m. Friday on suspicion of felony eluding, assault in the second degree, two counts of assault in the fourth de- gree, burglary in the first degree and possession of a stolen vehicle. He made his first appearance in Mason County Superior Court on Tuesday. At about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Tumwater police detec- tives contacted local law enforcement regarding a vehicle suspected to be used in two armed robberies in Thurston County. According to a Shelton Police Department report, officers were questioning a woman also suspected of robbery, when a man later identified as Dahman jumped out of a rear window of a nearby home. Dahman eluded a police chase. At about 7:45 p.m. that day, a burglary was re- ported in the 1400 block of Ellinor Avenue. Residents of the home said a man who fit Dahman's description entered their home, and assaulted a woman in the home after she refused to drive him somewhere or give him her car keys, according to a Shelton police report. Dahman then allegedly stole a red Ford pickup truck near Southeast Arcadia Road. Mason County Sheriffs deputies began pursuing the truck on Channel Point Road, then on Gosnell Road, near Arcadia Road south of Shelton. Deputies continued to pursue Dahman to Lynch Road at speeds approaching 110 mph, according to a Sheriffs Office report. Dahman lost control of the truck and went into a ditch near Craig Road. He was arrested with the help of a Sheriffs Office patrol dog.
