He was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Seattle. Vincent graduated from Franklin High School and enlisted in the Navy to serve in World War II on Guam. Jim married Marie Thomas on Sept. 23, 1950. He retired from the Navy Air Squadron VP 69 and Navy Reserve after 36 years. Jim also retired from Pan Ameri- can Airways, where he worked as a radio me- chanic for 34 years. He spent four years with Pan Am in the techni- cal assistant program, training Ariana Afghan Airlines mechanics and radio technicians in Af- ghanistan. Jim enjoyed oyster and clam farming at his home on Hood Canal, taking pleasure in in- troducing fiddler crab races and oyster shuck- ing to grand- and great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was actively involved in all of Marie's garden club events and was a life member of the American Legion. He is survived by wife Marie; sons Chris- topher and Joseph (Su- san); daughter Susan (Jim); brother Frank; grandchildren Marnie, Elizabeth, Mary Jane and Lisa; great-grand- children Aaron, Benja- min, Nathan, Hannah, Damian and Teagan; many nieces and neph- ews; and numerous friends. Jim was preceded in death by brother Rich- ard and sister Mary. In lieu of flowers, memoral donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the ARC at thearc.org/donate. The Arc of the United States advocates for the rights and full participa- tion of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental dis- abilities. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. June 7 at Calvary Lutheran Church of Federal Way. Funeral arrangements are by McComb & Wag- ner Funeral Home and Crematory. Elsie Seljestad Elsie (Heinold) Sel- jestad, 92, a resident of Bremerton, died May 24, 2014, at Claremont East Assisted Living in Bremerton. She was born March 8, 1922, in Oakville, Iowa, to Herman and Lena (Kunz) Heinold. She married Lorell (L.O.) Seljestad on Jan. 2, 1943, in Shelton. Elsie graduated from Irene S. Reed High School (Class of 1940). She was a member of Chapter 40 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Grace Bible Church and the Sunnyslope Commu- nity and Garden Club. She is survived by companion Mr. Snick- lefritz of Bremerton; stepson Neil Seljestad (Judy) of Olympia; daughters Lori Seljes- tad-Brodigan of Bremer- ton, Jill Seljestad (Den- nis McBride) of Bremer- ton and Patty Seljestad of Bremerton; grand- children Scotti Crump (Rich), Neil Seljestad Jr., Shaun Seljestad and Chris Seljestad; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorell (L.O.) Seljestad; sister Emily; and par- ents. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on June 7 at Grace Bible Church, 7070 Bethel Burley Road SE, Port Orchard. It will be officiated by Pastor Harold Petersen. Arrangements are by Tuell-McKee Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Memorial donations can be made to your lo- cal food bank or animal shelter. Elsie asked that you also go outside and get your hands dirty in a garden. Elaine Haynes Elaine Haynes (Nel- son), 85, a resident of Harstine Island, died May 24, 2014, at home. She was born May 5, 1929, in California, and is survived by her hus- band, Robert Haynes, and their three children. Lou Nielsen Laura Louise "Lou" Nielsen, 84, a 27-year resident of Shelton, died May 24, 2014, at Mason General Hospital in Shelton. She was born Aug. 10, 1929, to Louis and Ger- trude (Rassat) Fallon in Seattle. Lou married Carl Nielsen on Sept. 30, 1961, in Seattle. She worked as a tele- phone operator for 30 years, first with the Bell Telephone Company and then with AT&T. She was a devout Catholic who loved animals, travel, garage sales, parties and spend- ing time with friends and family. Her kind- ness and generosity blessed all who knew her, Lou's family said. She is survived by husband Carl of Shel- ton; son Robert C. Nielsen (Marianna) of Sammamish; daughter Kelle R. Oblizalo (Mike) of Union; and grand- sons Joel M. Oblizalo of Irvine, California, Alexander R. Nielsen of Sammamish and Nicho- las C. Nielsen of Sam- mamish. A funeral will be at noon June 5 at St. Ed- ward Catholic Church with a burial to follow at Shelt0n Memorial Park. Arrangements are by McComb & Wagner Funer- al Home and Crematory. She is survived by daughter Linda (Vince) Rainier; son Harry (Monte Leahy) Hoglin of Seattle; daughter-in-law Mary Hoglin of Spokane; sisters-in-law Martia Krause of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Ester Westlund of Spokane and Leona Krause of Noblesville, Indiana; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, California and Utah; and many friends. Agnes was preceded in death by all eight of her siblings, husband Roy in 2000, and sons Tom in 1996 and Rich- ard in 1997. A graveside service was April 21, 2014, at Spokane Memorial Gar- dens. Mac- Farlane, 79, a 38-year resident of Shelton, died May 22, 2014, at Mason General Hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1935, in California. Richard served in the Navy from 1953 to 1956. He married Betty Ar- szman on Feb. 14, 1969, in West Covina, Califor- nia. Richard worked as a welder for the Harry Johnson Machine Shop until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed building remote-controlled boats and was the president of the Shelton Scale Ship Modelers. He liked N- scale trains and 1 inch scale engines. His fam- ily said he always had a smile and could talk to anyone. Richard is survived by wife Betty; son Charles (Sherie) W. Hockenberry of Shelton; daughters Mary L. Ar- szman of Olympia, Lori MacFarlane of Shelton and Pamela (Suyong) Kim of Maui, Hawaii; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchil- dren. His service was of- ficiated by Mark Mar- tined.
