Relay: Opening lap features more than 200 survivors continued from page A-1 About 200 to 300 cancer survi- vors and their caregivers walked in the opening lap of the event follow- ing the opening ceremonies. Along with rock and disco hits blasted through loudspeakers, walkers marched to live music performed by 10 Cents in Oklahoma. "It was truly a success," said Vickie Gonzales, the event's team develop- ment chairwoman. "We appreciate this community so much. Everyone comes through for us." Last year's event raised $110,185. All participants and sponsors are invited to an event wrap-up party at 6 tonight at Kneeland Park in Shelton. The party includes dinner, awards and preliminary talks about the theme for next year's fundrais- er. Organizers will begin gathering in September to plan the 2015 Relay for Life, Gonzales said. Relay for Life of Shelton emcee Christian Boad on Friday asks members of the crowd to donate $20 to get 11 -year-old Alexis Nelson off a purple toilet next to the track. The donation was made, allowing her to make way for the next person called to the toilet. 11-3 LUNCH SPECIAL Vietnamese Pho: I Chicken & Beef $9..95, ShrimpS10.95, Seafood Mix: $1 !.95 I Looking for a Home City of Shelton Animal Shelter Adoptions Cost $75, which The shelter is closed Saturday include vaccine, wormer, spay / through Monday. neuter and a $10 city license.
