Sheldon refers to himself as a Democrat, but walks the walk and talks the talk of a Republican. Sev- eral elections ago I saw Sheldon standing with several other people waving signs in support of the Re- publican candidate for the state governor. I thought it was a joke, but when I asked around about this self-proclaimed Democrat, I was in- formed that he was the joke and an embarrassment to local politics as a whole. Sheldon curries the favor and vote of local Democrats proclaiming to "bring home the bacon" but in fact panders to the wants of a few and supports the Republican agenda, he does a poor job at both. As our area continues to race to lower unemployment, I would have expected Sheldon to react as if his hair was on fire, but not a peep. But he was at the front of the farce to bring a giant incineration company to our area along with pollution and maybe 25 jobs. There seems to be no shortage of money from out-of-state donors and the Republican Party for Sheldon. I'm reminded of this when I drive around and see all the Vote for Tim Sheldon signs. No wonder he is a leg- end in his own mind. Voters in the 35th district can have a fresh start by electing Irene Bowling to the state Senate. She has political moxie, understands the needs of small business and is com- mitted to representing all the people in the district fairly. Bowling, a Democrat, is the real McCoy.
