Defensive standout star: Eight interceptions last year Do you think you'll play defense again this year? "I'm planning to, but I don't know what position. I was a safety last year, but I'm a lot bigger this year." What do you think of the team this year? "I think we have a lot of young talent coming up. We'll try to get these guys ready for next year." Before the season even started, the Knight Owls' of- fense took a hit. Last year's leading rusher, then-sopho- more Brent Boley, transferred out of the school district. "He probably would've start- ed on both sides of the ball," Brkljacich said. "We're going to take what we have and run with it. I believe some kids will have to step up and fill that role." Despite Boley's absence, the Knight Owls will still attempt to improve on last year's 3-2 record. "We have some skilled vets coming back on offense," Brkljacich said.
