The fire threatened several houses and destroyed an outbuilding. )o No injuries or damage to house in blaze By NATALIE JOHNSON natalie@masoncoun com A brush fire on U.S. Highway 101 threatened several homes and destroyed an outbuilding Thurs- day afternoon. Fire crews responded about 1 p.m. to find the fast-moving fire was burning in trees behind the Hidden Haven Mobile Home Park and had jumped across U.S. High- way 101 to Port of Shelton proper- ty, according to Mason County Fire District 11. Crews blocked the highway and started fighting the fire near the mobile-home park. No homes were damaged, but an out-of-service well house was de- stroyed. No injuries were reported. The fire burned a total of 3 acres. Agencies that fought the fire in- cluded Central Mason Fire & EMS and Mason County Fire Districts 4, 6, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17 and 18. The Ma- son County Sheriffs Office, Washing- ton State Patrol and the Department of Natural Resources also responded. According to Fire District 11, about 60 people helped fight the fire. Mason County PUD 3 crews cut power to areas including Shelton Springs Road, North Lake Drive, Blevins Road, U.S. Highway 101 north, Sanderson Field, Southlake Drive, California Road and Moor- view Lane to allow firefighters to control the brush fire.
