OBITS cont. from page A-22 Joseph Patterson Joseph Samuel Pat- terson, 63, a 14-year Shelton resident, died Sept. 22, 2014, in Lacey. He was born Oct. 2, 1950, to Clarence Wil- liam and Helen (Miller) Patterson in Lewiston, Idaho. Joe graduated from Lewiston High School in Lewiston, Idaho, in 1968. Joe was drafted in 1970 and served as an infantryman in the Army, including a tour in Vietnam, until 1972. He received several medals for his service, including an Army Commendation Medal and two Bronze Stars. He was honor- ably discharged from the Army on Jan. 17, 1972, at the rank of specialist fourth class. He married Linda Churchill-Meehan on July 18, 1975, in Lewis- ton, Idaho. The couple later divorced. Before he was drafted Joe worked as a shoe salesman at J.C. Penney Co., in Lewiston. Al er the Army, Joe became the owner of Oasis Irri- gation in Lewiston. Joe liked woodwork- ing, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, wa- ter skiing, crossword puzzles and spending quality time with family and friends. He loved to tell jokes, perform magic tricks and entertain chil- dren. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars USA. Joe is survived by sons Kenneth Chad Pat- terson of Shelton and Jeffrey Bond Meehan of Blue Springs, Missouri; daughters Kimberly Dawn Patterson of Gig Harbor, Wendy Jo Pat- terson of Clarkston, Lori Michelle Gamache of Prosser and Melissa Lynn Meehan-Kimball of Vancouver; brothers Terry Parsons of Texas, Leslie Sanders of Florida and Phillip Hurley of Florida; sisters Patricia Guier and Cheryl Ad- ams of Lewiston, Idaho; grandchildren Taya Meehan, Erik Meehan, Sayge Patterson, Parker Gamache, Logan Kim- ball, Kylie Kimball, Sydney Gamache and Jackson Kimball. He was preceded in death by parents Clar- ence William Patterson and Helen Miller-Par- sons, stepfather Johnnie Parsons, sister Christine Marie Patterson, and brothers Bill Ora Pat- terson and Tracy Lynn Parsons. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Toys for Tots Foundation or any organization that helps children during the holiday season. Arrangements are by Funeral Alternatives of Washington in Lacey. Lewanne Lien Lewanne Ellen (Man- ning) Lien, 78, died Sept. 10, 2014. She was born Sept. 12, 1937, to Robert Man- ning and Ellen Palmer in Oregon. Lewanne married Don Lien in July 1972. She loved having big family reunions, cooking for her family, crossword puzzles, gambling and traveling with her hus- band to the ocean. Lewanne worked and managed restaurants most of her life.
