Project Location: The project is located at the en-
trance to the City of Sheiton on State Route 3/Pine
Street. The site is bordered by the US Navy Railroad
Tracks to the south, SR 3 to the North and Front Street
to the west. Assessor's Parcel Number 32019-15-
01490. Project Description: The proposed improve-
ments include the formalization of a 26 stall parking
lot with 3 RV/Bus stalls, 1 bus stop space, access
improvements, installation of water and sewer lines
for a future restroom, a 10 foot wide boardwalk and
trail, and a culvert which will reconnect a wetland on
site with Shelton Creek. Required Permits: Required
Land Use permits include: a Variance from the City's
Critical Areas Ordinance for a trail width greater than
4 feet within a wetland buffer, Section 404 Permit-
ting, and a Shoreline Substantial Development Per-
mit Environmental Review:The City has reviewed the
proposed project for probable adverse environmental
impacts and expects to issue a Mitigated Determina-
tion of Non-Significance (MDNS) for this project. The
optional MDNS process contained in WAC 197-11-
355 is being used. This may be your only opportunity
to comment on the environmental impacts of the pro-
posed project. Agencies, tribes, and the public are
encouraged to review and comment on the proposed
project and its probable environmental impacts. The
City of Shelton has determined that potential impacts
that may result from the project are addressed by the
design of the project as well as with the addition of
the following mitigation measures 1. Areas proposed
to be excavated within the wetlands and/or buffers
shall have soils sampling done. Any soils found to
have contaminants shall be disposed of in a man-
ner consistent with State of Washington protocols. 2.
Prior to any work occurring pursuant to the proposed
boardwalk facility the City shall obtain a variance ap-
proval through the City of Shelton Hearings Exam-
iner. The boardwalk shall be designed and installed
pursuant to the outcome of the hearing. 3. The project
shall be subject to all requirements of the pending
Hydraulic Project Approval (HPA) process. Environ-
mental Documents Available for Review at the City
of Shelton Civic Center at the address below: SEPA
Checklist, project site/construction plans, and Critical
Areas (Wetland) Report. Comment Period: Until 5:00
