Page B-4 - Mason County Journal - Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 SPORTS BRIEFS Shelton girls soccer in two shut-out games NMHS boys tennis season ends at league tourney Lady Bulldogs fall short in Olympic League games The Lady Highclimbers experienced two opposite results in shut-out girls soccer games last week. On Oct. 21, Wilson defeated Shelton 8-0 in Tacoma. "The first half was bad," head coach Dan Deacon said. "Wilson scored six of their goals in that half. We reorganized and reviewed expectations for the second half and played better." Then, on Oct. 23, Shelton beat Lincoln 6-0 at Highclimber Stadium. "We were forcing our runs and shots way too much," Deacon said. "We will continue to focus on possession, composure and offense." The Lady Highclimbers (5-7-2) play at 3:30 p.m. today against Central Kitsap at Silverdale Stadium in Bremerton. With just one victory at the 2A Olympic League tournament last week, the North Mason boys tennis season came to a close. "Our lone win in the tournament was by Jarod Curtis and Donny Plankenhorn," head coach Brian Barker said. Although Barker had high hopes of senior No. 1 singles player Beau Eddy advancing from the league tournament Thursday and Saturday at North Kit- sap High School, Eddy couldn't fmish the tourna- ment. "Unfortunately, Beau caught the flu and was very sick," Barker said. "He played in one match, but that was it. At that point, he had to retire from the tour- nament." Complete results were not available by deadline. The North Mason girls soccer team couldn't come out on top in either of its 2A Olympic League games last week. On Oct. 21, Bremerton defeated the Lady Bull- dogs 3-1 in Bremerton. Raven Wolfe scored North Mason's lone goal in the 72nd minute of the game. North Mason then lost 3-2 on Oct. 23 at home against Olympic. Tegan Daviscourt scored both goals for North Ma- son, finding the net in the 25th and 35th minutes. The Lady Bulldogs' (6-6-1) final game of the season was scheduled for Tuesday night at home against Port Angeles.
