Washington Healthplanfinder - Open Enrollment Begins in November
The annual open enrollment period for the Washington Health Benefit Exchange Program
(Healthplanfinder) runs November 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015 for health plan cover-
age beginning January 1,2015. Those who are eligible for Apple Health/Medicaid can
enroll year-round. If you have questions about enrollment please contact Lee Ayers,
project supervisor, Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics at (360) 432-7766.
"Exercise Coaching In Action"- November topic for Diabetes
Support Groups
Keeping weight under control and staying in shape is the best possible way to manage
diabetes, prevent its complications, and live a normal, healthy life. To promote this, the
next Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics Diabetes Support Groups will
present "Exercise Coaching in Action"at their November meetings.
The Allyn Group will meet on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the
Port of Allyn building's downstairs meeting room, and the Shelton Group will meet on
Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Pershing and Ellinor Meeting Rooms
at Mason General Hospital.
In his second guest appearance this year, Rick Green, certified health coach (CHC),
and executive director of the Take Shape for Life program, will be on hand to demon-
strate and guide participants through low-impact movements with a focus on stretch-
ing. Educated through the MacDonald Center for Obesity Prevention and Education at
Villanova University School of Nursing, Rick participated in theTake Shape for Life
program himself- achieving a total weight loss of 120 pounds since January 2013.
Family members/significant others are also encouraged to attend the class, for their
own personal benefit as well as the support they can give to their loved ones managing
diabetes. Comfortable clothing is recommended and Rick will be glad to answer
any questions.
The MGH&FC Diabetes Support Groups are affiliated with the American Diabetes
Association, and meet every month from September to June. They are free and open to
people with type 1 and 2 diabetes, their friends, and fam!ly. For more information, call

Diabetes Wellness Center.

Note: There is a fee for this class, however,
diabetes education is a covered service un-
der most insurance plans.
First Aid/CPR/AED course in November
The First Aid/CPR/AED course size is
limited to 16 per class, and an early, non-
refundable registration fee of $35 (exact
cash or check) is required to cover the cost
of books and materials. It is open to the
entire community and a Spanish interpret-
er can be made available upon request.
Comfortable clothing is recommended.
When: Thursday evening, November 13,
from 5 to 9 p.m.
Where: MGH&FC Learning Center, next to
McDonald's on Olympic Highway North.
