Page A-18 - Mason County Journal - Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 NONPROFIT BRIEFS Elks club is offering college scholarships to high school seniors Harmony Hill seeks to raise funds to receive pledge match Gillis Auto Center collecting food donations for Fill-A-Ford drive High school seniors who are citizens are invited to apply for four-year college scholarships through the Elks National Foundation. The deadline is Dec. 5 to drop offthe 2015 Most Valuable Student applications at the nearest Elks lodge. The Shelton Elks Lodge is located at 741 SE Croad Road. A supporter has offered a financial opportunity to Harmony Hill Retreat Center, a nonprofit for cancer patients and their relatives in Union. The supporter has pledged to donate $250,000 if the agency can raise $125,000 by the end of 2014. Harmony Hill states it has raised more than $18,300 and needs to raise $106,700 to meet its goal. All donations go to cancer programs and re- treats. For more information, call 1-800-920-1070. Gillis Auto Center in Shelton is asking for dona- tions of nonperishable foods to help people in need with its second annual Fill-A-Ford collection drive at W. 180 Hulbert Road. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 15 and then will be distributed to local food banks. The re- quested items include soups, cereals, boxed dinners, desserts, pudding, canned meats, tuna fish, peanut butter and canned vegetables.
