The Olympia-Mason County Red Cross Chapter will move its offices from the state-owned property early next year. In keeping with the latest development of the State Campus Expansion Program, the Red Cross was notified by the Division of Lease and Property under the direction of George Gifford that the State will be in need of the property at 14th and Capitol Way sometime after March 30 next year. The Chapter House has been occupied by the Red Cross for the past 19 years. The chapter has been leasing the property from the state after they acquired the property. Chairman of the Board, Rex Comstock, met with the executive committee last week and it was determined by the committee that they would pursue opportunities for leasing other property for the Chapter to be housed in. Jack Doyle, Chairman of the Building Committee, was instructed to seek a building which would be adequate to house the Chapter. The need at this time is for about 3,000 square feet with ample parking. The possibility of building an office of their own was taken up in the meeting but due to the time element, this action was not seriously considered at this time and will not be until it has been determined to be of an advantage of the Red Cross to own its own building.
