Wanted: Rodeo
queen, junior court
The Mason County Rodeo Associa-
tion and its Rodeo Queen Committee
are seeking candidates to be crowned
Mason County Rodeo 2015 and to
serve on the Mason County Rodeo Ju-
nior Court.
The deadline to apply is Jan. 5.
The candidates for queen must be
between the ages of 17 and 23 on Jan.
1, 2015.
The candidates for Mason County
Rodeo Junior Court must be between
the ages of 14 and 16 on Jan. 1, 2015.
The competition will include horse-
manship and speech and interview
contests.
The winners will represent the Ma-
son County Rodeo in 2015 and reign
over the two-day rodeo. They will also
appear at rodeos, fairs, schools, service
clubs, parades and other events to pro-
mote the rodeo.
An informal information meeting
will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at Roosters
restaurant in Shelton.
Applications will be available at the
meeting. The meeting is not manda-
tory.

Vigil to spotlight
World AIDS Day
The Mason County AIDS Advisory
Council is participating in World AIDS
Day with a vigil at noon Dec. 1 at the
Colonial House, 222 E. Pine St., down-
town Shelton.
Everyone is invited to attend the
event to commemorate those who have
died from the disease and those who
continue living with it.
The council is asking for donations
of money and items for Christmas
baskets for about 25 people. For more

Festival of the
Nativity hosted
The third annual community Fes-
tival of the Nativity will be at 6 p.m.
Dec. 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints, 916 N. 12th St.,
Shelton. Admission is free.
Art and collections of nativities
from around the world will be on dis-
play from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Children ages 3 to 12 will stage a
Christmas pageant at 7:10 p.m. Two
Allelujah! Handbell Ensemble perfor-
mances will follow.
Children will be able to create sea-
sonal items for family members. The
photo area will be styled to look like
ancient Bethlehem, with costumes for
children and adults.
The event also will include an
outdoor Nativity scene with animals,
Anna's Bay Choir performances and a
singalong to Handel's "Messiah."
