Merle Mortensen
Oct. 23, 1932 - Dec. 6, 2014
Merle left his earthly life in Shelton December
6th, 2014, to faithfully meet God and Christ his
savior. He was 82 years old. He was born and
raised on his parent's family farm in Nebraska and
was one of seven brothers.
Just out of High School he received a draft notice
and immediately enlisted in the Navy and willingly
served his country for 4 years. He met and married
Sandra Wood, March 25th, 1956, and soon started
a family of four in Woodland, Washington.
Mede's career path started in auto mechanics,
then made a bold career change to teach auto
mechanics at Shelton High for 10 years. Then
he made yet another bold move to be a tool belt
wearing General Contractor at the age of 50 until
retirement, if you could call it that.
Merle loved to work with his hands and loved
to see the fruit of his labor every day. He was
successful in everything that he did. He had a fun
loving zeal for life that was infectious and fun to
be around. He and his wife lead a simple Faith
filled life full of love, and surrounded with family
and friends.
Merle is survived by his faithful wife Sandra of
58yrs., his beloved children (his crown jewels),
Paul & wife Patti, David & wife Cindy, Todd &
wife Karen, Lynn & husband Chris Toney, and
his beloved grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Brad,
Cameron, Josh, Jessie, Justin & Trent; and brother
Alan.
He was preceded in death by parents Edna and
Lewis and brothers Arnold, Irvin, Kenneth, Harold
and Ralph.
