"And at that point," said Andy, "I knew that I wasn't really gonna be around in the program, and I wasn't really focused that much cuz I was just tryin' to finish out." Although he had experienced some foot problems during the fall campaign, added the twin, they are behind him now and weren't really that big of an issue in the first place. "I just wasn't as tbcused, I guess," said Andy. "Just because I knew I wash t gonna be around. I wanted to finish out the school and just kinda get done with all that so that when I did transfer I would be okay there. "Once you decide in your head you're gonna transfer, it's hard to eally be as focused for that school, cau you know you're gonna ave. o that was pretty much the reason in cross-country. The whole team had a tough season. "But I feel fine now. I've taken a, lighter training right now, and I m just gonna go to Arkansas and start with kind of a 'new slate' there. I'm kinda starting over." REDSHIRT STATUS will be theirs at the U of A for sure this track season, added Andy, and they might well redshirt their first cross-country season as Razor- backs, too. "But we'll definitely be train- ing there," he added, reminding that it's quite a privilege indeed considering Coach McDonnell is Considered simply "the best coach there ever has been," to quote our exClimber. Overstated? You be the judge: In his 35 years at the Razorback helm, Coach McDonnell has won a record 42 national champion- .ships, including 11 of the past 15 outdoor track. Thirty times he's een named national "Coach of the Year." With 111 NCAA event championships he's hands-down the Winningest head coach in col- lege athletic history. PERHAPS THE HIGHLIGHT of this year's tournament from the hosts' standpoint, added Snyder, was their fourth-place finish in the 13-and-under girls' division. "Some of those girls," said the director, "have been in the basketball program here since they were 8 years old - and they'd never won a game before. NEVER. "Tom's planning to have their youth tournament sometime in January," added Snyder. "And we're gonna go there."
