Share your good
news: weddings,
engagements,
anniversaries
The Herald is happy to share
news of your engagement, wed-
ding or anniversary.
Forms are available in our of-
fice in the Log Plaza in downtown
Belthir. Black-and-white prints, or
good color prints, are satisfactory
for pictures.
Pictures are available at the
office for pickup as soon as the
article is printed. If you wish
to have pictures returned by
mail, please include a self-ad-
dressed, stamped envelope.
The deadline is at noon on
Mondays. However, news of en-
gagements, weddings and anni-
versaries is always printed on a
space-available, first-come-first-
served basis. Occasionally, space
constraints or an overabundance
of coming events will force us to
hold one of these stories a week, or
during peak seasons, two. Thanks
for your patience.
To help members of local clubs,
organizations and nonprofit agen-
cies spread the word about their
projects and work, The Herald
also has an information sheet
called "Reporting Your News."
It's available in the Herald office
to publicists and others who want
help preparing press releases.
Belfair youngster
earns a black belt
Local teen Kody Bill has earned
his black belt in martial arts.
Bill, 14, began his studies in
the American-Japanese style of
karate in April 1999 under Grand
Master David R. Smith of Spirit
Force Karate. He later studied
under Sensei Craig Poynor at
the former Kingston Academy of
Martial Arts of Belfair and then
under Sabum Mark Loudin, also
adding the Korean style of Shim
Shin Do.
In July 2005, Bill tested for his
American-Japanese black belt and
began studies at Belfair's Blue
Dragons School of Mixed Martial
Arts. Bill's instructors were out of
state when his black belt certifi-
cate was approved, but they have
since returned and surprised Bill
with its presentation at the Blue
Dragons' Christmas party. Bill
will begin teaching an American-
Japanese style of martial arts in
2007.
