Commissioner Tim Sheldon said when
he and Ring Erickson were elected in 2004
they decided to give the county commis-
sion a less active role in the group, adding
more business owners and keeping only
one county Commissioner as a non-voting
member.
"I think the business community, if
they're on that board and make a recom-
mendation o me I think that carries a lot
of weight," Sheldon said. "Today a mar-
keting plans much different than it used
to be. It's ot just brochures, it's the in-
ternet mostly."
During the Dec. 12 LTAC meeting,
Shelton-Ma$on County Chamber of Com-
merce ExecUtive Director Heidi McCutch-
con spoke out against recommending
the Olympic Broadcasting's application,
which was incomplete and filled/with
spelling and grammar errors.
The chamber's proposal included print-
ing of brochures and Mason County naps,
advertising, videos and administrative
services, while Olympic Broadcasing's
plan focused on internet and radio-based
advertising.
Bloomfield said the LTAC committee
made a strong recommendation to ap-
prove the Olympic Broadcasting applica-
tion over the chamber's.
"In my mind that's 'a major ch#nge,"
Bloomfield said. "I repetitively asked if
there was any hint of going back 4o the
chamber and they said 'no.'"
The commissioners will continue tp con-
sider the LTAC committee's recommenda-
tion until the scheduled briefing.
