Senior Kelsey Holloway said she thinks working at i
shelter was an experience all high school students shodd
have. I
"I think we should get all the teams involved in this e-
cause it's really important," Holloway said. "Doing this ggve
us a really great opportunity to help our community andit
opened doors to us for if we want to help out again in the u-
ture."
Senior Clara Robbins said she had fun serving food w ile
senior Allison Hunter said the team has not yet discussed sny
more community service ideas.
"It went really well," head coach Aaron Leth said. "The p o-
ple who work there said they were really excited to have he
girls and to have younger people take an ii:eres in servin ."
Leth said the girls all seemed to have fun and that there
were a.lot of laughs. One thing that was an eye-opener for the
team, however, was when two families brought in children.
"The girls saw there are more than just adults out there
who need a hot meal or a place to stay," Leth said.
He stated that a lot of the girls asked if they could come
back to work at the shelter again.
"Right now, it's kind of a conflict with our schedule but alot
of the girls want to volunteer on their own and we've talked
about going back as a team when the season is over," Leth
said.
He Said that while the goal ot' serving the community has
started successfully, there is still a lot more he and the team
could do.
"My goal is for the girls to come back with ideas of their
own to give back to the community," Leth added. "This defi-
nitely isn't a one-time deal with us."
As for how theteam is doing, Leth said that with a minor
flu outbreak, practice was limited to just eight or nine girls
each day of winter break.
"We're all back now and healthy," he added.
As of press time, the Lady Highclimbers had not yet played
at home against Stadium on Wednesday, Jan. 4. The team
is scheduled to play next at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6 at Mt.
Tahoma.
