The Shelton-Mason County Journal has pub- lished in three centuries. Since our first paper went to print 125 years ago we have been a domi- nant voice in Mason County covering local news and events and giving our opinions. Much has changed but our jobs remain pretty much the same. We are the watch dogs of Mason County. During the coming month we will publish columns and editorials from our past highs and lows. Hopefully the words still ring true today. Our series begins with a column written by Journal legend Henry Guernsey Gay (1926-1999) on September 12, 1991. i pi You can live longer with a bald head No manis anisland, but some women 1 S tO ns than bald tires, are beaches. Chapter over the holidays to become part of their family. Fostering four teenaged boys can be quite a challenge in itself. Dur- ing the holidays it becomes very dif- ficult for most foster children since they have been removed from either all or most of their family. After being chosen, by the Mason County ABATE Chapter called and wanted to visit the boys to learn a little about each of them. The following week they returned with Mr. and Mrs. Clause, many gifts, food and most of all friendship. They left life stories, names, phone numbers, and e-mails with an open invitation that if the boys or our family ever needed any- thing that we would know how to get a hold of someone.
