Shelton High School ju-
nior Mishawn Ewart had
one of her best games of
the season during the High-
climbers 7-0 win against
Stadium High School on
Tuesday at West Side
Lanes in Olympia.
But her younger sister,
sophomore Danielle Ewart,
broke two school records,
including a high game re-
cord of 288 in the first game
for Shelton (9-2).
Danielle Ewart start-
ed the first game with 10
straight strikes and head
coach Curt Snyder said the
nerves were visible heading
in the final frame.
"I could see her knees
shaking as she was throw-
ing her llth ball," Snyder
said.
Danielle Ewart also
broke the school record
with a two-game high se-
ries of 471 after having a
second game of 183.
Mishawn Ewart had
scores of 231 and 211. But
Snyder said the older sib-
ling did not seem too jealous
of her sister's high score.
"I think she was really
happy for her sister, as well
as everyone in the crowd
watching," Snyder said.
Snyder said the Ewarts,
his granddaughters, con-
tinue to improve their aver-
ages and are the most likely
to continue posting games
above 200.
"Any of them [the Shel-
ton bowlers] can, but those
are pretty high scores,"
Snyder said.
The Highclimbers com-
bined for a 972 team score
in the first game and 880 in
the second game.
Senior captain Brittany
Chamberline had a 333 se-
ries with games of 168 and
165, while senior Lynzee
Johnson had a 162 in her
second game.
"They [the Highclimbers]
came in, for the most part,
right where we left off,"
Snyder said.
The Highclimbers are
scheduled to host South
Kitsap High School (6-3) to-
day at West Side Lanes in
Olympia on senior night.
The Wolves gave Shelton
one of their early season
losses and Snyder said he
would like to see Shelton
earn some revenge with a
repeat of Tuesday's perfor-
mance.
"We are definitely look-
ing forward to facing them
[South Kitsap]," Snyder
said.

Coming off a winter
break, the North Mason
High School girls basketball
team earned a key Olym-
pic League win on Tuesday
at home against Klahowya
Secondary School, 62-49.
The Bulldogs (3-7, 2-5
Olympic League) had their
best offensive game of the
season, highlighted by their
25 point second quarter en
route to a 37-21 halftime
lead.
"We haven't scored 25
points in some games," said
Clifford Harris, North Ma-
son head coach. "It was a

With the extended lead in
the second half, Harris said
he was able to use younger
players near the end.
"We gave up 16 points in
the fourth quarter with five
sophqmores on the floor,"
Harris said.
North Mason's offense
was led by senior Sadee In-
gwaldson with 23 points.
Harris said Ingwaldson
scored from everywhere.
"She hit some nice threes
from outside, made 10 free
throws kind of inside out-
side for Sadee tonight," Har-
ris said.
Harris said one of the
keys to the win was re-
bounding, controlled by
North Mason's Ingwaldson,
Stephanie Zamudio, Renee
Willey and Julie Johnson.
"When we control the
boards, it sparks our de-
fense it seems," Harris said.
"And our defense sparks our
offense."
One of the individual
sparks Harris mentioned
was senior Tristan Strom-
berg, who scored 10 points.
"Tristan Stromberg
made some absolute beauti-
ful passes tonight," Harris
said. "She sparks our de-
fense on top."
Another "spark" Har-
ris highlighted was senior
Stephanie Zamudio, who
has contributed to all areas
outside of scoring.
"She scores two to eight
points, gets five steals a
game, five or six rebounds a
game," Harris said.
With a group of seniors
that Harris said are work-
ing hard to make the Bull-
dogs better, the team sits
behind North Kitsap High
School (2-5 Olympic League)
for fifth among the league's
2A teams.
"We dug ourselves in a
hole," Harris said. "I told
our girls that this is start-
ing our playoffs. We lose
and North would be making
more progress than us."

Olympic League loss for
North Mason High School
girls bowling against
Bremerton High School,
6-1, on Tuesday at Hi-Joy
Bowl in Port Orchard.
The Knights (7-2) out-
scored the Bulldogs (1-8)
687-588 in the first game
and 761-624 in the second
game.
North Mason was led by
April Griffiths, who had a
team high of 159 in her sec-
ond game and a 299 series.
"I could have improved
but I st ll feel I did good,"
Griffiths said. "I held the
anchor position."
North Mason head
coach Kristy Whitcher said
the team has kept Griffiths
as their key bowler all sea-
son, leaving her in the im-
portant fifth anchor slot on
the team and baker game
lineups.
"April is more of our con-
sistant bowler," Whitcher
said.
After a lower first game,
where only two games were
above 120, the Bulldogs'
coach said she told her
team to meet a minimum
for the second game.
"I told them they needed
