Shepherd mix, female, 4 months old. Leo, Marlene have fun in retirement (Continued from page 16.) and garage made of thousands of pieces of wood. They started with a design they bought for the doll house and then they completely redid the whole thing. THE GARAGE, Leo says, is built completely to scale like the garages he used to make in his construction career. Inside, his hand-built garage tools, skis and sled hang on the garage walls, supported by miniature trusses and surrounded on the outside by tiny, homemade gutters. Marlene had fun buying all the miniatures and even made and in- stalled a stained glass window in the doll house bathroom. Outside their real garage, Leo's workshop windows are decorated in a Bavar- ian style inspired by a trip they took to Germany when they were touring the world. "We keep pretty busy," Leo re- marks. Marlene shared a traditional Norwegian recipe handed down to her by her mother. She calls this an easy, elegant dessert that is sure to please crowds and said it is best eaten fresh. Kringle Crust ingredients: 1 C. flour 1/2 C. butter 2 Tbsp. water Custard ingredients: 1 C. flour ]/2 C. butter 1 C. water 1 tsp. vanilla 3 eggs Frosting ingredients: 2 Tbsp. butter 11/2 C. powdered sugar 2 Tbsp. cream, or to proper consis- tency 1 tsp. almond flavoring Preparation: Make the crust like a pie crust, mixing the ingredients together and forming the dough into two balls.
