As part of its effort to expand tile daytime humanities program, Olympic College Extension Center in Shelton is offering English 60, a survey of American literature from colonial times to tile Civil on Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.nm. The course carries :hree credits, and there are no prerequisites. The class began yesterday, but there are openings and late will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 7riday, January 13, at the school at Fourth and Cedar Streets. American Literature 260 will include an overview of a critical and nalytical approach to American literature and the development of American literary tradition. Covered will be colonial literature, particularly the writings of Puritan leaders as Bradstreet, Taylor, Mather and Edwards; literature including some of the works of Franklin, Paine and !efferson; and romantic literature including the work of talists Emerson and Thoreau, the novels of Cooper, and Melville, and the poetry of Longfellow, Poe and Students enrolled for winter quarter are reminded that textbooks still on sale at the center today.
