City of’Shelton water and sewer customers will see an increase on’their
January bill. The city owns and
operates its own wastewater treatment plant, water distribution system and
wastewater collection system.

sewer rates
Shelton residents will see a utility
base rate increase beginning with their
January bill, which will be mailed on
Jan. 22.
In a news release, the city states pe-
riodic rate increases are needed for re-
pairing and replacing aging infrastruc-
ture, ensuring regulatory compliance
and ongoing operations. The city owns
and operates its own wastewater treat-
ment plant, water distribution system
and wastewater collection system.

on a base fee and consumption charge
based on account type: single—family
residential/duplex without water ser-
vice, triplex/multi-family/mobile—home
and trailers, commercial, and hotel/
motel.

Customers who are experiencing
financial hardship or are unsure how
to pay their bill can call the city’s ’cus—

learn more about discounts for seniors

New police chief
takes the reins
Carole Beason, a former lieutenant
with the San Diego Police Department,
this week took the helm as is the City
of Shelton’s first female police chief.
Beason replaces Chief Darrin
p Moody, who is retiring. Beason be-
gan her new job on
Monday.
Beason worked
for the San Diego
Police Department
for 25 years. She be-
gan her career in the
department as an
officer, and became
a lieutenant in 2015.
In that position, she
led the sex crimes
unit, child abuse
unit, intemet crimes against child task
force, and the sex registrant unit.
The other two finalists for the posi-
tion were Ronald Schaub, a lieutenant
with the Pierce County Sheriffs Office,
and Ton Phan, former deputy police
chief for the Davis (California) Police
Department.
