Donald L. Por- ter, son of Mrs. E. I. Porter of Star, Idaho, has been recognized for helping his unit earn the U. S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Sgt. Porter, a carpenter in the Squadron at Vandnberg AFB, Calif., will wear the distincitve service ribbon as a permanent decoration. His unit was cited for pro- riding excellent civil engineer- ing support to Vandenberg units working on an accelerated launch program, base expansion and facilities construction. The sergeant, a graduate of Meridian (Idaho) High School, attended Everett (Wash.) Junior College. He has served in Viet- nam. His father, V. L. Porter, lives in Shelton. Freeman, 44, of of Route 3 BOx 631, died Wednes- day in Mason General Hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1924 in Juanita, Wyo. and had lived in Mason County the past 29 years. He was a self-employed logger. Mr. Freeman was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Partials. of the home: two sons, Tony and Ronnie, both of the home ; six daughters, Ronica, Teresa, Nickey, Susan, Julia and Karen. all of the home; his mother, Mrs. Ethyl Freeman. Unemployment Increases • Improvements at the Mason County Multi-Purpose Center are progressing, with plans for hold- ing an open house in the near future. The center, located on the ground floor of the IWA build, tng, will be a place where older citizens especially can rest while shopping and enjoy a cup of cof- fee and meet friends.
