After finding probable cause for i charges against Jermoine Anthony Davis, Finlay set the man’s bail at $20,000 and sched- uled Davis for a Jan. 27 arraign- ment hearing, when he’s expected to be formally charged. Davis remained in Mason County Jail in Shelton as of Wednesday morning’s in—custody report. A Washington State Patrol report accuses Davis of leading law enforce- ‘ Davis ‘ ment on a Friday night three—county vehicle pursuit that began at Milepost 352 on US. Highway 101 in Taylor Towne. Davis then reportedly ignored mul- tiple instructions from law enforce- xment before authorities broke out the . front passenger-side window of the Nissan and a K—9 assisted in remov- ing Davis from the vehicle for appre- hension. Man draws 60-day sentenced for theft Martin David Downing pleaded guilty to second-degree theft, then received a 60-day jail sentence dur- ing a scheduled omnibus and pretrial hearing Monday in Mason County Superior Court. Judge Amber Finlay told the 61-year-old Shelton man that if he’s found eligible fol~ d lowing a Screening, though Downing could serve his sentence via jail alternatives such as work release or electronic home monitoring. Finlay ordered Downing to pay $500 in fines and return Jan. 27 to court for a restitution hearing. Downing’ s victim, who read an impact Downing statement Monday in court, seeks more than $1,600 in restitution. Mason County Sheriffs Office per— sonnel arrested Downing on Nov. 2 in a grassy field near the intersection of East Daniels and East Agate Loop roads north of Shelton after a' resident discovered Downing and another man stealing an outboard boat motor. Ac— cording to the case’s probable cause affidavit, Downing told authorities at the scene that he was helping Donald Hartwell Jr. steal the boat motor be- fore declining to answer further ques— tions. V Hartwell was captured hours later, but failed to attend a Dec. 16 omni— bus hearing. Following an arrest on ' a warrant for failure to appear, Hart— well escaped from custody Jan. 7 from Mason County Superior Court and was on the lam for four days before his capture Saturday in Grapeview.
