Seattle man faces
pending stolen car,
eluding charges
Judge Amber Finlay found prob—
able cause Monday in Mason County
Superior Court in Shelton to charge
a 29—year-old Seattle man with pos—
session of a stolen motor vehicle and
attempting to elude a pursing law en—
forcement vehicle following his Friday
night arrest.
After finding
probable cause for
i charges against
Jermoine Anthony
Davis, Finlay set
the man’s bail at
$20,000 and sched-
uled Davis for a
Jan. 27 arraign-
ment hearing, when
he’s expected to be
formally charged.
Davis remained in Mason County Jail
in Shelton as of Wednesday morning’s
in—custody report.
A Washington State Patrol report
accuses Davis of leading law enforce-
‘ Davis
‘ ment on a Friday night three—county
vehicle pursuit that began at Milepost
352 on US. Highway 101 in Taylor
Towne. According to the report, a
trooper cadet clocked a black Nissan
Rogue at 67 mph in a 50 mph zone,
then attempted to pull the vehicle
over. Davis, later identified as the
driver, reportedly failed to yield to the
cadet trooper’s lights and siren.
As a'check with dispatch of the
Nissan’s plates returned as stolen, I
Davis allegedly continued to flee at
speeds reported as up to mph as
the pursuit traveled north to Inter-
state 5 through Thurston County. The
WSP report states multiple attempts
touse a spike strip to deflate the Nis-
san’s tires forced the vehicle to come
to a stop in the left-hand lane of L5 at
milepost 129 in Tacoma.
Davis then reportedly ignored mul-
tiple instructions from law enforce-
xment before authorities broke out the .
front passenger-side window of the
Nissan and a K—9 assisted in remov-
ing Davis from the vehicle for appre-
hension.

sentenced for theft
Martin David Downing pleaded
guilty to second-degree theft, then
received a 60-day jail sentence dur-

Superior Court.
Judge Amber
Finlay told the
61-year-old Shelton

though Downing
could serve his
sentence via jail

as work release or

in a grassy field near the intersection
of East Daniels and East Agate Loop

discovered Downing and another man
stealing an outboard boat motor. Ac—
cording to the case’s probable cause
affidavit, Downing told authorities at
the scene that he was helping Donald
Hartwell Jr. steal the boat motor be-
fore declining to answer further ques—
tions. V
Hartwell was captured hours later,
but failed to attend a Dec. 16 omni—
bus hearing. Following an arrest on '
a warrant for failure to appear, Hart—
well escaped from custody Jan. 7 from
Mason County Superior Court and
was on the lam for four days before
his capture Saturday in Grapeview.

$ 10,000 fine.
Tahuya man pleads
to drug, stOlen
property charges
Adam Daniel Woodhead pleaded
guilty to two counts of drug posses-
sion from a 2018 case and second—
degree trafficking of stolen property
from a 2019 case during proceedings
Monday in Mason County Superior
Court.
At his scheduled Feb. 3 sentenc-
ing hearing, the 38-year-old Tahuya
man faces a standard—range sentence
of a year and a day to 16 months for

and between six and 18 months for
the drug possession charges. Prosecu-

Alternative, if
Woodhead qualifies
after a screening
' process.
Mason County
Sheriffs Office
personnel arrested
Woodhead in May
2018 while serving a warrant at a
Woodhead
residence in Belfair, where Woodhead
was found in possession of heroin and
methamphetamine.
Last January, a Belfair resident
told authorities he discovered copper
and brass pipes stolen from his resi-‘
dence at a Port Orchard junk yard.
‘ An investigation of the sale of the
stolen items and video surveillance
from the junk yard led investigators
to Woodhead, who was arrested in
December after failing to appear by
summons at an August arraignment
hearing. .
Woodhead'faces a sentence of up to
five years in prison and/or a $10,000
fine for each of his three charges, and
up to a year of probation for each of
the drug possession charges.
