The ramp of crumbling con-
crete may be desolate during Jan-
uary, but come June, the Port of
Grapeview's boat launch will be a
hub of activity as locals and tour-
ists alike take turns sliding boats
into Case Inlet.
But drivers may have difficul-
ty finding a place to safely turn
around to back their boat trailer
into the water.
The driveway leading to the
water is about 200 feet long, bor-
dered on both sides by private
property.
In past years, drivers have
been allowed to utilize the neigh-
boring Fair Harbor Marina drive-
way to turn around. However,
the private marina is up for sale,
and port commissioners have
said they worry that new tenants
might not be as gracious.

Mason County commissioners last
week approved a grant application for
the design of a potential new sewer
line between Belfair and Bremerton.
At their Jan. 10 regular meeting,
county commissioners gave the coun-
ty utility department the nod to ap-
ply for a $1.1 million grant to design
a sewer line to run from the Belfair
wastewater treatment facility to sew-
age treatment lagoons owned by the
Port of Bremerton.
The line will be installed to stay
ahead of development on the east side
of Belfair and south side of Bremer-
ton, said Bart Stepp, deputy director
of Mason County Utilities and Waste
Management.
"Both Belfair and the Port of
Bremerton don't have the capacity (to
handle waste) as properties develop
along that area," Stepp said.
The grant will be submitted to the
state Legislature to ask for money
from the state capital project budget.
Construction of the sewer line
is slated to coincide with the
