O"b'i Scott Raymond Brown Scott Raymond Brown, 44, died Saturday, Jan. 7, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. He was a lifelong resident of Shelton. He was born Jan. 28, 1967, in Shelton to Donald and Ja Nean "Ginger" (Wolfrum) Brown. Scott Brown He graduated from Shel- ton High School in 1985. He en- listed in the U.S. Air Force in 1985 and served in the Mih- tary Police. He married Julie Hatha- way on Nov. 3, 1990, in Shel- ton. On Feb. 13, 1995, Brown began his 17-year career at the Washington Correc- tion Center. In 2010, he was named Officer of the Year. His family said he was an exemplary gentleman who al- ways had a smile in his voice and a good word to say about everyone. They said he en- joyed spending time with his family and friends, especially at one of his famous backyard barbecue/bonfire parties and he looked forward to family vacations, particularly the yearly trips to Ocean Shores. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He is survived by his wife Julie Brown; children Kairee, Hollie, Cindee and Donald; father Don Brown; sister Lisa Fox (Grant); brothers JeffBrown (Lorie) and Rick Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Ginger Brown and father-in-law Wayne Hathaway. A celebration of life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the family home. Johanna Agnes Aardal Johanna Agnes Aardal, 99, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Four Seasons Convalescent Home in North Hollywood, Calif. She was a former resi- dent of Matlock. She was born on Aug. 8, 1912, in Coalhurst, Carmda to Dingeman and Johanrm Tack. The family moved to Matlock in 1920. She attended Mary M. Knight School. She married Edwin Aardal on July 5, 1935, in Shelton and moved to North Hollywood, California, where he worked fbr Walt Disney Stu- dios. ~~~it She ~ was an ac- ~complished china painter and oil painter. She was a member of Johan~aa the Valley Porcelain Aardal Artists As- sociation. She is survived by her sister Agnes Stangland of Aberdee, n; sons Gary Edwin Aardal and his ~fe, Carol, of Lynnwood and John Duane Aarda] of North Hollywood, Calif.; granddaughter Holly Patte.n of Poulsbe; great- grandchildren Spencer Kenan and Milan Kenan both of Poulsbe and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother wide. His ~fe Susan T. Lockyear of Union, son Sean R. Man- ners-Lockyear Jr. of Union and stepson Jason S. Manners of Olympia survive him. James "Jim" S. Newell James "Jim" S. Newell, 50, died Thursday, Jan. 5, at Fir Lane Health and Rehabilita- tion in Shelton. He was a resi- dent of Grapeview for one year. Ha was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Tacoma to John W. and Constance/k (Schoephoerster) Newell Jr. He attended Wilson High School in Tacoma and Grays Harbor Community College. He was a sewer inspector in Federal Way and Covington for 25 years. He enjoyed hunt- ing, fishing, coaching Little League, softball and cooking. He is survived by his-par- ents John and Constance New- ell of Grapeview; son Cameron Newell of Puyallup; daughter family shared that he loved driving his grandchildren around the farm on his trac- tor. He is survived by his daughter Janice Saeger (Len- ny) of Shelton; son Jerry Sae- ger (Shiane) of Shelton; broth- ers Ralph Saeger of Clarksten, Idaho and Paul Saeger of Shel- ton; mother Wilma Saeger of Shelton and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren all of Shelton. Mary Dorothy Stansell Mary Dorothy Stansell, 93, died Friday, Jan. 20, at Mason General Hospital. She was a resident of Shelton for 70 years. She was born April 1, 1918, at Black Diamond to Stanley and Frances Chicon. She graduated from Bucldey High School in 1936 and from Western Washington in Bell- ingham with a BA in education in 1940. Later she received her masters in education. She married Eugene Author She is survived by her daughters Sharon Creamer (Clovis) of Satsop and Mary Jean Stodden (Kenneth) of Shelton; grandsons Brent Creamer (Erin) of Satsop, Brad Creamer (Yonemi) of Elma, Eric Creamer (Amy) Elma and Jacob Stodden of Shelton; granddaughters Jody Stedden of Tumwate:- and Jennifer Stodden of Shelton; great-grandchildren Brandon, Maisy, Clara, Kaylee, Lakaya, Marissa, Olivia and Alden. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Eugene. A family memorial will be held at a later date. William H. Tibbits William "Bill" H. Tibbits, 62, died Thursday, Jan. 19, in Yelm. He was a former resident of Shelton and had been a resident of Yelm for 10 months. He was born May 28, 1949, in Shelton to William '~Doc" F. Tibbits and Bonnie J. Eagle Tibbits. He was born and raised in Shelton and went to Bordeaux Elementary School, Southside School, Shelton Jr. High and Shelton High School, graduat- ing in 1968. Lockyear, 56, died Thursday, Jan. 19, at home in Union after a two year battle with lung cancer. He was a resident of Union for 40 years. He was born April 1, 1955, in Tacoma to Barbara Dye and Terrance Lockyear. He was employed as a mill worker and retired from Simpson ~and Olym- pic Panel Products al~r 30 years. He enjoyed go- ing to the bike races Tearl at Castle Rock and Lockyear riding his Harley and quad and taking drives in the mountains. He enjoyed get- ring together with family and friends and being with his Lew is proud to help .... Mason County with needs including Bruce Aaron Saeger, 64, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, at home in Shelton as a result of a farming accident. He was a lifelong resident of Shelton. He was bern AUg. 26, 1947, in Shelton to Arnold and Wilma Saeger. He served in the U.S: Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of E Five. He married Laura Marie Swantak June 29, 1968, the marriage ended in divorce. He was employed by Simpson Timber Company from 1970 to 1989 and was self-employed as a custom farmer from 1989 to present. He was involved with the community with his farming and farmed ~manylocal properties. He deliv- ered hay to Mason County Fair and won a rib- bon for his Bruce hay. He was a resident of Sequim and a previous Shelton resident for over 20 years. He was born March 22, 1944 in Bremerton, Washington to Grant & Hazel (Cox) Antis. After graduating from Mossyrock High School, he entered the US Army. He had a long career with the Simpson Timber Company working on the railroad and then later in the plywood mill. He is survived by his mother Hazel Antis of Sequim; his wife Nancy Ward of Sequim; his son Grant Antis of Shelton; his granddaughter Alexis Antis; and his daughter Heather Matheney of Rochester, Washington. His hobbies were gardening & cooking. He was a big sports fan. Fred was best known for his warm sense of humor & quick wit. He was preceded in death by his sister Roseanne & brother Danny.
