Among his hobbies, he lists track and field, weight-lifting, snowboarding, cooking, classic cars and handiwork around the house. He has received a full four-year track and field scholarship from the University of Oregon, where he plans to major in journalism and communications. JENNIFER SETTLE is the daughter of Ben and Lynn Settle of Pershing Court in Shelton. She attended Mountain View Elemen- tary School. At SHS, she is ranked first in her class with a 4.O GPA. Jennifer took fifth place in the state diving championships for two years, and she is an All- American Academic this year. She has also been a cheerleader for three years, and she's an All- American this year. A member of the track team for four years, she has been captain of the team for the past two years. In addition, she has been a member of the SHS Service Club for two years. She is also a stu- dent leader at Shelton First Bap- tist Church. Among her hobbies, Jennifer lists any outdoor activity, being with her friends, and hiking, ski- ing and reading. Jennifer's plans to attend col- lege have been narrowed down to either Seattle Pacific University or Whitworth College in Spokane. Although she has yet to decide on a major field of study, she places her trust in God to work it out, she says, adding that she hopes to get a job that would permit her to live in a rural area. Rhiannon Barrow and Stepha- nie Freitag from Shelton High School; Chris Bothwell, Greg Hoff, Scott Merrin and Josh Spei- gle from Shelton Middle School; and Emma Yantis from Hawkins Middle School in Belfair will per- form at 7:30 p.m. January 30 in the Klahowya Secondary School Performing Arts Facility just out- side Silverdale. The performance, according to organizers of the festival, will fea- ture students from 20 schools from around the Olympic Penin- sula. The young musicians will play under the direction of Profes- sor Raydell Bradley, Director of Bands at Pacific Lutheran Uni- versity. Dance raises fu:nds A January 16 community-wide Swing Dance organized by two members of Shelton High School's leadership class was "a tremen- dous success," reported Aimee Pierce and Susanne Feucht this week. At $2 a person, the dance raised $296.34 for Habitat for Hu- manity, its organizers said, noting that about 150 people at- tended. "Any donations were ac- cepted," the students explained.
