All-Stars can't topple Mt. View champs'
Apparently there's just no outset with5-10 frontlinersMark each, Mark Brewer two and
beating the Mt. View Vikings, no
matter what you throw up
against them on tile basketball
court.
Last Thursday the opposition
tried ganging up on the unbeaten
grade-school-league leaders - and
the Bordeaux and Evergreen
All-Stars came up on the short
end again, this time 32-52 on the
Vikings' home court.
The All-Stars actually led
briefly at the start, with the
hosts over-agressing and
committing several fouls. But
before it was over the "Green
Machine" was hitting on all
cylinders, and the rebounding
edge was the Vikings' from the
Lund and Dave Fitchitt
dominating inside.
Mt. View was led by Kelly
Byrne, with i0 points. Sterling
Stock and Fitchitt added eight,
Danny Byrne, Ted Drogmund,
.Lund, Chris Willis and Jim White
four each, Bryan Gregg three,
Glenn Andrews two and Dave
Buitenveld one.
Coach Dana Gagnon noted
every one of his Vikings who
saw action got in on the scoring.
The All-Stars were led by
Mark Medcalf's eigh't points,
while Julie Bartz added six,
Janet Peterson, Tom Mallory and
Chris Gordon four each, Troy
Ahlf and Jan Hurlbert three
Todd Sensenbach one.
Earlier, the Vikings' jayvee
team finished its season with an
8-0 mark by turning back
Bordeaux's jayvees 31-28 behind
the 14-point and 12-rebound
performance of Phil Adams.
Coming up soon is the Mason
County Junior Basketball
Tournament, to be played
starting at noon Saturday,
February 11, in the Minidome.
Local teams featured in the big
event will be Mt. View,
Evergreen, Bordeaux and Hood
Canal. From Olympia will come
the Washington Bulldogs and
Pioneer of Olympia, last year's
champs•
GRADE-SCHOOL ACTION last Thursday sees All-Star Julie Bartz of
Bordeaux (33) going high over teammate Todd Sensenbach (35) to battle
Mt. View's Bryan Gregg for a descending rebound. Looking on in back are

FITCHITT, 5-10 center for the Mt. View Vikings,
an offensive rebound Thursday as teammates Ted
Id (nearest) and Danny Byrne (12) clear out. At
eaux All-Star Chris Gordon.
