MARGEAN MEAD (BERETS, GRUVER) It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Margean Mead. She was born in Shelton, WA on August 11, 1924 to Paul and Esther Berets and passed away on January 11, 2012 at the age of 87. She graduated from Shelton High School in 1942 and spent her entire life living in the Puget Sound area; Shelton, Kent, Olympia, and finally Puyallup in order to be closer to her grandchildren. Known for her great sense of humor and affection for others, she truly enjoyed chatting with friends and family. Margean loved to travel; whether it was car trips around the Northwest, cruise ships visiting interesting ports, or plane flights to Hawaii, Europe, and Asia; she liked to be "on the go". When she wasn't going she was helping. She was the most wonderful mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother anyone could hope for. She never failed to "come to the rescue" of her children or grandchildren regardless of the time of day or how far she had to travel. Margean worked as a bookkeeper for Simpson Timber Company and then later as an auditor for the State of Washington. Like her mother and grandmother before her, Mom was an accomplished seamstress. She created beautiful quilts, clothes, and a variety of costumes, including a prize winning alligator suit. Also a talented cook, she loved baking cookies with her granddaughters and making birthdays special by creating uniquely personalized cakes. She is survived by her sons Joe Gruver of Seattle and John (Patty) Gruver of Puyallup, granddaughters Elyse and Kate Gruver. and great granddaughter Aubrie. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Frank and Charles Berets. While we want to thank everyone that helped care for Morn the past several months, we would especially like to thank Mom's Group Health Hospice team along with her many caregivers, notably Jen and Mandy, for their extraordinary and compassionate watch over our mother during her most difficult of times. $ -- Paid Obituary Notice Violet D.
