After Tuesday's big win:
Streaking boys
ady for Cougs
Aroused with it's-now-or-never
passion and sparkling defensive-
ly, the Climber varsity hoop boys
upended southern-division stal-
wart Mark Morris 41-34 here
Tuesday, setting the stage for to-
morrow's battle of league runner-
up contenders.
"Yeah, Friday's a big game for
us," says head coach Mark Jen-
sen, whose Climbers have won
seven of their last eight and thus
stand just a half game back of to-
morrow's guests, the Cougars of
Capital.
On the heels of a 54-17 yawner
in Washougal last week, Tues-
day's win over Mark Morris saw
the. Climbers respond to a brief
lull in their offense, in the third
quarter by holding their similarly
district-berth-contending visitors
to just two points in the period.
"I thought it was by far our
best defbnsive effort overall," says
Jansen. "And I thought it was our
best rebounding game of the year,
too - you know, head and should-
era over anything else; we'd done."
ONE BIG REASON, says Jen-
sen, was the inspired play of
senior forward James Aries. The
veteran not only contributed six
points to the scoring column but
led the Climbers in three key sta-
tistical categories, with eight re-
b()unds, five assists and three
steals.
"I thought James just had a
great all-around game," said Jen-
son. "lie did a yeoman's job.

"So, you know, 'Let's go out and

"And James really stepped it
up big."
SPEAKING OF BIG, one
Climber who uncharacteristically
wasn't against the Monarchs
Tuesday was all-league junior
Aaron Brown, with just five
points and two steals and no
assists.
Blame foul trouble, says Jen-
sen.
"He sat out two or three
minutes of the first quarter, all of
the second and about a minute or
two of the third," says Coach.
"They box-and-oned him - and
I'm surprised we haven't seen it
before."
Tipoff of tomorrow's key Capi-
tal clash is set for 7:30 p.m. in the

a lot of 'em go on to college bas-
ketball or anything.
"So, you know, 'Let's go out and
give it our all!'
"And James really stepped it
up big."
SPEAKING OF BIG, one
Climber who uncharacteristically
wasn't against the Monarchs
Tuesday was all-league junior
Aaron Brown, with just five
points and two steals and no
assists.
Blame foul trouble, says Jen-
sen.
"He sat out two or three
minutes of the first quarter, all of
the second and about a minute or
two of the third," says Coach.
"They box-and-oned him - and
I'm surprised we haven't seen it
before."
Tipoff of tomorrow's key Capi-
tal clash is set for 7:30 p.m. in the
Minidome.
