Wright and Jose Gonzales collided
at Highway 101 and I Street. Mrs.
Wright suffered possible head
injuries and cuts and bruises, and
Waymeth Gonzales, a passenger in
the Gonzales vehicle, suffered
possible head injuries. Both were
taken to Mason General Hospital.
Parked vehicles owned by
Gordon Boock Jr. and Jack
Bamford were involved in a
collision in the Prairie Market
parking lot. One of the vehicles
apparently rolled from where it
was parked, officers said.
Vehicles driven by Frieda
Schnitzer and Maxine Peck
collided on Cota Street.

A fire was found burning in a
tree at Second and McKinley.

Thirty former employees of
Simpson Timber Company's
Insulating Board Plant will have
the opportunity to learn new
careers in welding, it was
announced this week.
A special 25oweek welding
course solely for IBP employees
will begin March 3 in Shelton.
Arrangements for the class were
developed cooperatively by
Simpson, the Olympia office of
the State Department of
Employment Security, and
Olympic College.
IBP was closed permanently
December 20 for related
economic and environmental
reasons affecting 196 Shelton
employees.
"We are pleased that this
opportunity for finding new jobs
has developed," said Guy
Lalouche, IBP production
manager. "Obtaining this course is
part of Simpson's continuing
effort to help relocate IBP
employees." Simpson praised the
assistance of Don Lafferty,
assistant manager of the Olympia

$90,000 from a federal CETA
grant to the state will be used to
finance the course. Simpson will
provide space and utilities; the
state will provide the instructor
and equipment• Olympic College
will teach the course.
"The payoff of the course is
that there presently is a demand
for several hundred welders in
Washington," said Lalouche.
"Graduates should have little
difficulty in finding a job 7
