ON MARCH 4 Cheri Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Moore of Shelton, will marry Clint Kruger, son of Pete Kruger of Shelton and Donna DeCoy of Aberdeen. Club to meet Next Thursday the Hood Canal Federated Woman's Club will meet in its Potlatch • clubhouse at noon. Dessert and ! coffee will be served by hostesses Mrs. Nellie Wolfe and Mrs. Verna iiGalyean. A short business meeting will follow. At 1 p.m. the club conservation department will present the program. John Perkins, Hoodsport district ranger for the forest service, will speak on "Young Adult Conservation." All women are welcome to attend this meeting. Club members will sell sandwiches on Saturday at the Lions Club Flea Market, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Potlatch Woman's ii Clubhouse. Meeting slated Mason County Democratic Club will meet next Thursday in the PUD Building at 7:30 p.m. Mac Gearhart, chairperson of the Mason County Democratic Central Committee, will be guest speaker. New officers are president Leona Osterman, vice-president Jim Lowery, secretary Dorene Rae and sergeant-at.arms John Drebick. Program chairperson is Cecelia Clifton. The club invites any interested Democrats to attend. Grange to meet A special speaker will conduct the lecture program at the Friday evening meeting of Skokomish Grange. Potluck will be served at 6:30 p.m. and an 8 p.m. business meeting will follow. Educational event to be presented "The Rural Road Show" to be presented February 21 and 22 in St. Edward's Parish under the sponsorship of the education department of St. Edward's Catholic Church, is an educational event for adults. This call to renewal offers an opportunity for adults of the area to convene for study, reflection and prayer. "The Bible Today" is a study of the Scriptures and will be presented by Sr. Diana Bader. Fr. Kevin Hanley will lead a study of current moral questions in the light of the Catholic tradition entitled "Contemporary Morality and Christian Conscience." Two workshops will be offered simultaneously, and those wishing to participate may sign up for the preferred topic. Participants are encouraged to continue the same topic for both days, but may elect to study in both daytime and evening courses. The daytime program for both days will begin at 9:30 a.m. with part I of "The Bible Today" or "Morality." After an 11:30 a.m. lunch break the classes will resume at 12:30 p.m. and continue until 2:30 p.m. Evening programs begin at 7:30 p.m. with the same classes which will terminate at 10:15 p.m. with a 15-minute coffee break at 8:45 p.m. The Rite of Reconciliation (optional) will conclude daytime and evening programs on February 22. Babysitting services will be arranged for both daytime and evening sessions. Registrations should be made no later than Wednesday. For more information call 426-2797. Children can form good TV habits Can parents do anything involve kids in your child's age heavy sugar snack foods - let Read to your preschool-age about the television programs their children watch? They certainly can, according to the Illinois Board of Education. In a pamphlet called "Television and Your Children," the board offers the following suggestions to parents who want to do something about their children's television "habits:" Start early to develop good viewing habits - many children are already regular TV viewers at the age of two or three. Develop planned viewing with specific programs - don't just turn on the set and see what's on. Plan physical activities with younger children in between planned programs. Seek out programs which were made for kids and which Children's film set for Saturday A children's film will be shown at 1 p.m. Saturday in Timberland Library. All children are welcome to attend. There will be no charge. group. Where possible, have a TV viewing area separate from the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, etc., where the regular family functions occur. Don't let kids use TV as an excuse for not participating in other activities. Help kids to use "alone time" for other purposes than just viewing whatever happens to be on TV. Use "sensitive" TV themes to open up discussion opportunities for your children to raise questions which might remain unanswered for them during programs. Expose deception in TV advertising - make sure children realize that those famous people saying nice things about a product are being paid to say those things. Discuss ads which emphasize older children help select children - develop the book alternative snacks the family habit at an early age. might keep handy.
