North Mason maintained its
usual control of the boards
under the direction of Caron
Zech and Karla Schillinger, but
had difficulties getting the ball
back in the hoop and hitting
floln the outside.
Vashon's superior ball
handling and a lightning-quick
fast break gave the Bulldogs
problems in closing off Vashon's
goal in the lane and underneath.
Combined with the Pirates'
tough press, the Bulldogs faced
an uphill battle most of the
game.
In the first quarter North
Mason played their
game-of-choosing, etching out a
three-point lead. But in the
second period Vashon started
moving the ball ahead of the
Bulldogs, racked up 17 points,
and went to the locker room
with a six-point advantage.
North Mason kept Vashon
down to eight for the third
quarter but could only muster
eight for itself.

Over on the Vashon side,

Come Saturday, North Mason

they plan to survive the district
tournament without the help of
Zech, who will be with her
