On the second day of the tournament, the

Mishawn Ewart is not one
of them.

the fire department.
"Oregon, I feel like has a
lot more to offer than Wash-
ington," Ewart said. "I've
been down there enough
times to know I like Oregon.
It just has a different feel to
it than Washington."
As a student at SHS,
Ewart has already begun
helping those around her
Lhrough her involvement in
sports medicine.
"We assess injuries and
do tape jobs before and af-

For the fifth straight
year, the Shelton cheerlead-
ing team had a strong show-
ing at the WIAA 4A State
Cheerleading Competition.
On Saturday, Feb. 4,
head coach Misty Pagel took
24 cheerleaders to Everett
for the state competition,
where the Lady Highclimb-
ers finished in fifth.
"They did pretty well,"
Pagel said. "We had to
change a lot of the routine
on Friday morning but they
really pulled it off."
AthIetic code violations
from members of the squad
earlier in~ the week reduced
the team's numbers for the
state competition, which led
to the Lady Highclimbers
beginning practice at 5 a.m.
on Friday, Feb, 3, instead of
at 6 a.m. in order to rework
the routine.
"I'm very proud of them
for what they did," Pagel
said.
At the competition, the
Lady Highclimbers per-
formed a 2 1/2 minute rou-
tine. One minute was de-
voted to cheering, while the
remaining time was a mu-
sic-based performance con-
sisting of jumps, dancing,
stunts and a pyramid.
"We scored a 188," Pagel
said. "This was about the
same as what we've been
getting all season, so that
was pretty cool."
