THE FORT LEWIS SOLDIERS FACE this imposing array of
ex-college basketball stars this coming Sunday afternoon in the
Shelton gymnasium. These are the Cheney Studs of Tacoma,
from left to right, Bob Houbregs (University of Washington and
retired professional of several years in the National Basketball
Association), Hartley Kruger (University of Idaho), Ed Bowman
(College of Puget Sound), Dan Inveen (Pacific Lutheran College),
Gone Lundgard (Pacific Lutheran College), Jerry Vermillion (Gon-
zaga University and present Shelton high basketball coach), John-
ny O'Brlen (Seattle University all-American), Mariafi Pericin
(Gonzaga University), Eddie O'Brlen (Seattle U), Eddie Pepple
(University of Utah), and Dean Nlcholson (Central Washington
College). The game starts at 2:00 o'clock with the Shelton high
school athletic fund as benefactor. Johnny O'Brien, however,
won't be with the Studs for he has been forbidden to play any more
basketball by the Philadelphia Phils, major league baseball team
which owns his professional contract.

when the Redskins hammered the
Mary M. Knight Owls, 58-39, here
last week.
North River trailed into the sec-
ond half, 24-19, before a full-court
press enabled the Indians to run
up a string of 12 straight points
to gain the lead which resulted in
the one-sided final margin of vic-
tory.
Kingery topped Owls scoring
with 13 points but yielded game
honors to North River's Mayes,
