Resources, churches and local

many, she definitel:~ has fa-
vorite types of bags to use.
She said the mats are sur-
prisingly warm; making a nice
blanket as she ties the pieces
together in evenings at home.
Roger and Justin both help
out where needed, whether
delivering completed mats or
acting as a measuring stick
for how long the mats need to
be.
One of the most rewarding
parts of the work is donating
the mats and seeing the joy on
people's faces, Jenny said.
She takes pride in each
one, carefully crafting a pat-
tern with the black, brown,
grey and white bags, which
she said not only makes them
look more attractive, but also
helps people distinguish be-
tween mats.
When she finishes a mat,
Jenny, Justin and Roger all
say a quick prayer over it to
share positive vibes with the
recipient.
"Hopefully whoever's out
there really needs it, and it
finds it's way to thatperson,"
she said.
Roger said the act of kind-
ness has been reciprocated in
the community. He learned
that when one recipient of a
mat found a job, he gifted his
mat to another person, who
planned to pass it along when
he could.
Word has been making it's
way around the area, and the
family is happy to help where
possible.
"People will just say, 'Hey,
I know someone who is home-
less. Can you make one?' And
I said absolutely," Jenny said.
"Sometimes the satisfaction of
just giving one away is really
nice."
The only remnants of her
handiwork are callouses from
tying the strips of plastic and
working her crochet hook.
