Mason County Republi-
cans elected 29 delegates
and seven alternates at the
county convention Feb 10 in
the Shelton Civic Center.
State Sen. Drew MacE-
wen served as chairman
and Pastor Bill Baker from
Mount Olive Lutheran
Church in Shelton gave
opening remarks and a
prayer.
“If I can quote a Dem0~
crat, Kennedy said, ‘Ask
what you can do for your
country,’ ” Baker said.
“What do we choose to do
with this day?” he asked.
Delegates will attend the
Washington State Republi-
can Convention in Spokane
April 18 a 20.
County Republican
Chair Melissa Upson told
the Journal the convention
“went very well.”

ed, with more that. 70 who
were delegates elected to
the county convention at the
January caucuses, she said.
“A new, and essential,
role of the delegates at the
state convention is to en—
dorse candidates for sig-
nificant positions such as
governor, US. Senate, Con-
gress and other statewide
offices. Candidates who
earn an endorsement at the
state convention receive the
comprehensive backing, re-
sources and infrastructure
of the Washington State Re-
publican Party, along with
our partner organizations,”
according to the county Re-
publican website.
