"She keeps wanting to
get better and I think she
will," he said.
Freshman Carlie Ad-
sero led the team with 10
points. While junior Em-
ily Johnson scored two
points, she contributed 11
rebounds and five assists.
Junior Linda Cook
led the team with 12 re-
bounds. Freshman Han-
nah Frost had nine re-
bounds and three steals.
Lauren Dierkop, an-
other eighth grader for
the Lady Owls, had six re-
bounds and two steals in
addtion to her four points.
Valley said for a team
that was entering the sea-
son after an 0-18 record,
the Lady Owls exceeded
his expectations with the
second place fLrLish in the
Coastal League.
"Any win from here on
is a bonus to a great sea-
son," Valley said. "With no
seniors, this postseason is
great experience."

expects a lot from the re-
turning players.
"It's time or some young-
er kids to step up and fill
those shoes," he said.
One example of a young
player with potential is
sophomore Anthony Price.
"He could be a good lit-
tle ball player if he worked
hard over the summer,"
Hackett said.
Hackett also noted ju-
niors Austin Sandquist and
Will Crummey.
But Hackett said the re-
turning players know that it
is not going to be easy when
they make the transition
into new varsity roles.
"Hopefully some of these
younger guys saw what it
takes," Hackett said. "We're
not a team that is expecting
to go 20-0."
Hackett said the Bull-
dogs fought hard near the
end of the season to earn
their chance at a playoff
spot.
"They [the younger play-
ers] have to understand we
have to work really hard if
we want to get back in the
playoffs next year," he said.

The North Mason Bull-
dogs (6-14, 5-12 1A/2A/3A
Olympic League) defeat-
ed Klahowya Secondary
School (5-15, 4-13 Olympic
League) in a tiebreaker
game, 49-37, played Feb-
ruary 9 at the neutral
Bremerton High School.
The teams split the sea-
son series - North Mason
winning at Klahowya, 56-
41, on January 4, with the
Eagles winning 56-47 in
Belfair on February 4.
But the tiebreaker win
gave the Bulldogs the fifth
place standing out the
the Olympic League's 2A
teams and a berth into the
sub-district tournament.
"It's been our goal since
day one," said Steve Hack-
ett, North Mason head
coach. "Obviously we wish
we were a higher seed."
North Mason lost 75-42
in a regular season finale
at Bremerton the night be-
fore, where Hackett said
the team tried out a new
defensive scheme where
two of the five Bulldogs on
the court go man defense
and the other three in a
zone defense.
"It was kind of a 32 min-
ute scrimmage," he said.
"We got to correct some
things."
Senior Garrett Burley,
who led the team with 14
points and 12 rebounds,
said the Bulldogs easily
put the Bremerton loss be-
hind them.
"It's really exciting and
we knew we wanted to face
them again," Burley said.
