I p.m., pinochle. 100 Years Ago From the February 17, 1899, Mason County Journal: The Siwashes are beginning to move to Lillewaup to await the coming of herring and spring salmon. We have had a game of "freeze-out" here on the Canal. It was closed up with ice for miles. Jacob Hauptly was three days last week breaking ice from Clifton to Union City with a boat-load of meat. "J. Bert Forbes and bride" arrived in Shelton on the steamer Wednesday evening and are at home at the Dipman. Bert went to Alderton Monday where he was married to Miss Marie E. Bowman at the home of her parents. The groom is the youngest son of Pioneer John B. Forbes, of Kamilche and is a Mason County boy born and raised while his bride also has many friends gained by her occasioned visits to Shelton. The JOURNAL wishes the happy cou- ple success in life.
