get in a bit of spoiling. They
thoroughly enjoyed young Todd's KUKBUK
visit. Tho Todd isn't too
loquacious (he's just ten months
old) the feeling seemed to be
mutual. Certainly the visit agreed
with him, when his parents came
to pick him up on Sunday they
exclaimed, "My, how he's
grown!"
Ruth Hobson, a friend from
Seattle who is employed by the
Washington State Ferries spent a
few days with the Lees this week
also. Friday June's brother-in-law,
Walter Temple whose home is in
Oregon, arrived for a couple days
visit. It was a pretty full week,
and by Monday June was glad to
kick off her shoes, let down her
hair and relax and recouperate.
LAINGS ENTERTAIN
Fred and Dorothy IAing
enjoy their Ayock Beach home all
through the year. This weekend
they brought Mr. and Mrs. Martin
Hendricks down with them. The
Hendricks are neighbors in
Puyallup. Last weekend they
entertained their sonqn-Jaw and
daughter, Dr. and Mrs.
Heindselman and the
Heindselman's four children plus
two young friends of the children.
COTTERS VISIT
Last week the Mark Cotters
spent several days in Oregon
visiting with acquaintances of
many years standing. They visited
Mr. and Mrs. H. D. NelSon in
Portland, and Mr. and Mrs.
Marshall Gibson in Scappoose.
They also enjoyed a visit with Mr.
and Mrs. John Jones in
Milwauke, Ore. They hadn't seen
the Jones since 1931 and had a
lot of catching up to do there.
The past weekend the Cotters
entertained guests, from Tacoma.
Mrs. Cotter's at~nt, Mrs. Lillian
Richardson, and Mr. and Mrs.
David Bancroft spent the
weekend from Friday to Monday
with Mr. and Mrs. Cotter. Mr.
Bancroft just recently returned
from Viet Nam.
ON THE SUNDECK
Surely have a lot of fat birds
wintering out on the sun (??)
deck. Strangers (but not for long)
come to join the freeloaders
occasionally. Keeps us thumbing
through Audubon to _identify
some of them. Our Cassin's Finch
(remember Eric) are back,
bringing along a couple of
relatives. Don't know where they
spent the earlier part of the
winter, we hadn't seen them since
they used to fight with the
hummingbirds over the feeders
last summer. We have a couple of
varieties of Chickadees. They
seem to particularly enjoy the
"mush" Father concocts out of
oatmeal, Roman meal, grain and
bacon drippings. They have
competition for this in our
Stellars Jays. When we hear three
or four jackhamm'ers going out on
the railing we know they're
loading up. We have only one
Towhee, don't know why he's
here without any of his kinfolk.
Made the mistake of washing
the windows. Now the birds
frequently fly into them. So far
no casualties. But ooh, headaches.
Besides our fat little birds, we
still have Nutsy our fat little
squirrel. Several times a day he
comes wadding across his 2 x 4
bridge for a little lunch.
"If you were among the first
100 persons to get a copy of the
Kukbuk you will need to add the
following missing ingredients in
the Recipes. (The remaining 400
copies were hand-corrected before
being sold)
