Interstate, with two men on the

In the second half the bench

the Climbers will lose only one

By JOHN HURST
Shelton moved up one more
spot in the win column at
Chehalis Friday, skinning the
Bearcats 72-52.
The Climbers had no trouble
scoring without starters Mike
B aze and Randy Bostrom,
although Bostrom did appear in
the second quarter and pumped in
six points in the second half.
Chehalis was devastated by
the Climber press in the early
going as it fell behind 15-7 by the
end of the first quarter.
With 7:44 left in the second
period, Dan Fitchitt was sent in
for Mark Tuson, who had three
fouls. The sophomore duo of
Fitchitt and Chris McGee, who
started for Baze, played well
intermingled with the regulars and
combined for six points.
Shelton doubled the Bearcats
30-15 by the halftime break.
In the second half the
Climbers poured it on, leading by
as much as 30, 59-29, late in the
third quarter.
With 4:10 remaining in the
fourth frame, all Climber starters
were being given a rest and Coach
Terry Gregg left the game up to
the rest of his squad. They easily
kept the pace in the dosing
minutes of the contest.
Todd Brewer led the team in
two respects. He hit 18 points, 11
in the first half, and pulled down
13 rebounds.
In scoring he was followed by
Bariekman with 12, Campagna 9,
Fitchitt 8, McGee 7, Tuson 6,
Bostrom 6, Kaszycki 2, Francis 2,
and Martin 2.
In jayvee competition, Larry
Baze led Shelton scoring with 23
as the Climbers squeezed by
Chehalis 69-64.
Mel Ferrier proved too hot to
handle for the second week in a
row by canning 22 points for the
sophomores. They also won
55-42.
RANDY BOSTROM scores two points for Shelton during Friday's game
with Chehalis. Number 13 is Peter Francis.
