Business owners and
community leaders: Stu-
dents in Mason County
classrooms can learn les-
sons from how you deal
with the "real life world
of work problems."
That's the pitch Ma-
son Matters Executive
Director Kimberley
Klint will present at the
Shelton Mason County
Chamber of Commerce's
monthly membership
meeting from 6 to 8 to-
night at The Pavilion at
Sentry Park in Shelton.
Also speaking is Mike
Hickman, assistant su-
perintendent of student
support services for Edu-
cational Service District
113.
In her presenta-
tion, Building Commu-
nity Through Education,
Klint will talk about the
nonprofit organization's
Career and College Read-
iness program.
"We need business
partners that have ex-
pertise they can bring
into the classroom ... We
want to get businesspeo-
ple in front of the kids to
discuss their multiple ca-
reer paths, the different
paths to their dreams,"
Klint said.

"High school gradua-

The program targets
students in grades four
through eight.
"We want the kids to
have all the doors open
to them when they get to
high school," Klint said.
The program also of-
fers details on how lo-
cal businesses operate,
Klint said. Owners of
large Mason County
businesses often say
they want to hire more
local residents, but say
most are not adequately
trained, she said.
