A Belfair woman died
Feb. 13 after a car acci-
dent four miles south of
Allyn on State Route 3.
Anne Louise Perry, 52,
of Belfair, was southbound
on State Route 3 when she
approached a corner and
started to drive off the
road on the right shoulder,
according to a report from
the Washington State Pa-
trol.
The report states that
Perry overcorrected the
2001 Dodge Neon she was
driving and slid into the
northbound lane. Perry's
car was then struck on the
passenger side by a second
vehicle, a 2007 Subaru
Outback, driven by Debra
Higgins Dunlop, 59, of
Grapeview.
Dunlop was injured
and transported to Mason
General Hospital. Perry
died at the scene.
Perry's car was totaled
and impounded at North-
shore Towing. Dunlop's
car was damaged and im-
pounded by Mason County
towing.
The incident is under
investigation. It is un-
known whether drugs or
alcohol played a role in the
accident.

A fire that erupted in a garage caused an
estimated $150,000 in damages to a water-
front house in Allyn on Feb. 18.
Central Mason Fire & EMS crews were
dispatched at 6:35 a.m. to the structure fire
on the 18200 block of State Route 3 in Allyn.
The first crews to arrive found the garage
engulfed in flames, according to the depart-
ment.
A neighboring house on the north side re-
ceived some damage from the heat of the fire,
but was quickly cooled and protected by the
first unit on the scene, Central Mason Fire
& EMS Chief Tim McKern stated in a news
release.
A garage with living quarters situated just
west of the house, and owned by the same
family, also suffered heat damage from the
fire. Residents of both homes escaped un-
harmed.
Assistance at the scene was provided by
Mason County fire districts 2, 3, 6, 11, PUD
No. 3, Washington State Patrol, and Pierce
County Fire District 16.
