Chase's arm got caught a bit right in the
spot he's had trouble."
After the loss, McCarty said Davis's
arm was taped up and iced. Davis came
back in the consolation bracket to win his
second match by fall against Ellensburg
junior Jason Glenn in 3:37.
Davis lost his final match to Steila-
coom senior Jordan Leech by pin in 3:47.
"In his third match, his shoulder
started hurting again, then he got put in
a cradle and down to his back," McCarty
said.
Junior Tommy Marsh, at 182 pounds,
also ended the tournament with a 1-2 re-
cord.
"In his first match, Tommy went out
there like gangbusters and was dominat-
ing (Steilacoom senior Jackson Leech),"
McCarty said. "Then, (Leech) got an es-
cape and Tommy sagged. The wind went
out of his sails and (Leech) got him on his
back and pinned him."
Marsh lost to Leech by pin at 3:20. He
came back to win his second match by
pin at 2:30 against Anacortes sophomore
Aron Tisinger.
"Being in the dome is a whole dif-
ferent place to wrestle and Tommy got
overwhelmed," McCarty said. "He came
back and wrestled fantastic in his second
round."

sophomore Kyzer Bailey. McCarty said Marsh was devastated
"They just battled the whole time,"by the loss.

my had (Bailey) with a few seconds left to-toe with (Bailey), who took second at
state last year," McCarty said. "This will
really improve Tommy's confidence."
Finally, at 132 pounds, senior Jon
Day ended his wrestling career with a 0-2
record at state.
"Jon's a senior and this is only his
third year wrestling," McCarty said.
"He's worked really hard, he's one of the
hardest workers in our program. ! wish
I'd had him for another year."
Day lost by major decision 11-0 to
Grandview junior Joseiah Saunders in
his first round. His second round was a
3:30 pin loss to Burlington-Edison senior
Tanner Zavala.
"He just came up against a couple of
kids and he was outmatched," McCarty
said.
Despite the losses the Bulldogs suf-
fered, McCarty said Mat Classic was a
great tournament with fantastic out-
comes. The tournament will also give the
Bulldogs three state-participant return-
ers next year and two state alternate re-
turners.
"I think we'll be really strong next
year," McCarty said.
He described his first year as head
coach as a "mixed bag."
"I'm still learning how to be in charge
of everything," McCarty said. "I've seen
some things I can incorporate into our
team."
He said that, like the Bulldog wres-
tlers, he has some work to do in the off-
season.
